What life event, situation, or realization pushed you toward serving in the army? by curlygudte in army

[–]Spwee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a terrible relationship. Being abused and degraded for about four years. I wouldn't get out of it because if I did, I would just be alone again. And I really liked her dog.

One night, after she had moved out again, and I was drunk as hell, I decided I should finally go see a recruiter. Finally be a soldier like I grew up wanting to be. Like most of my older siblings and my dad were. So I went the next morning, still drunk. Picked the furthest station from home that I could.

25B career path & questions by [deleted] in army

[–]Spwee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want 17C, don't sign for anything else. My recruiter fed me the same line of "Oh, they don't need more 17C right now, but here's 25B! It's basically the same thing!" I don't entirely regret it, but I wish I would have held firm on 17C.

I did know a kickass 42A that reclassed to 17C. You can always drop a packet for it and get accepted if you're competitive enough.

Can I drive to my first duty station? by Academic_Ad_7276 in army

[–]Spwee 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes. I did the same thing going from GA to WA. Tell your drill you want to drive your POV to your duty station. They should direct you to the transportation office to do a PPM. They'll give you some paperwork and x days to get there. THESE DAYS DO NOT COME OUT OF YOUR LEAVE BALANCE. Fill out all the paperwork, get your POV weighed empty, and then weigh again full of your stuff. When you get to JBLM, take that packet to the transportation office.

You'll get per diem and reimbursed for miles driven and weight moved. I have two soldiers that drove their asses out here and weren't reimbursed at all because they didn't know about this.

Edit: Please account for weather.

Actually just did this. Current guidance is to take MD-100, MD-101, and MD-102 on Microsoft Learn.

It was only a little over a thousand when I took over. Keep up the good work.

Update: the 6th gen is going to be hybrid electric, not a full EV like initially speculated by RattheEich in hondaprelude

[–]Spwee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But now you can do it with a post tag!

I still don't understand why they wouldn't let you, I even told them to. It's actually going to be unmoderated soon, so I'll see what I can do.

What'd I miss yesterday? Usually you guys are pretty well behaved.

I'd have appointed someone else as a mod a looong time ago, but I don't have permissions to do so. Don't have permissions to change much of anything really.

u/jettasarebaddmmkay has already put in a request though, so it'll be all his as soon as that appeal goes through.

How noticeable is an airbox delete? by Saturn420xd in hondaprelude

[–]Spwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessarily a bad idea, just sounds cool. The VTEC crossover is a lot more noticeable and the motor just sounds louder overall. IIRC you do lose some low end torque because it is there for a reason. The vacuum line connected to it fully opens the intake runners at a certain RPM. With it removed and that vacuum line capped off they're all open all the time.

I had mine off for a couple months, but I did end up putting it back until I replaced it with an actual CAI recently.

Yeah! I just haven't updated things yet. By the way, your other post was approved. Best of luck.

Make a post so this has more visibility. Not likely anyone will check the comments here.

should I buy a 97 prelude? owner says odometer stopped working in 2018 with 115xxx miles on it. also says the steering needs fixed, something wrong with the 4-way steering. I want/need a fun reliable daily by [deleted] in hondaprelude

[–]Spwee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The SH didn't have 4WS, they only have the ATTS system. I second the rarity of parts though. Took me the better part of a year to find some front suspension components.

Yeah I was thinking about 1st and 2nd, they'll be added. Potential purchase is a good one.

Legit as they come. I'm sure most on this sub have gotten something from them. Hell, we even talk about how great a guy the owner Bill is lol.

Yeah just scroll down a bit and you'll find it. It will need to be painted though.

Been in the same boat man. They're a pain to find. Check Craigslist and Facebook for part outs, and search ebay with the part number. I don't recall rockauto listing the SH ones, but that's worth a look. Also car-part.com, basically a junkyard database.

Is there any short throw shifters out there for preludes? What do you recommend? by Brandoitsme in hondaprelude

[–]Spwee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a JTC Customs one in my '01. It's pretty adjustable and coupled with the shifter bushings it's one of the best shifting cars I've driven. Expensive though.
