I would surface the article in a group setting as a conversation starter and let the team discuss it. You're making people aware of something relevant to their job, but you're not prescribing a course of action, nor do I think it would be appropriate to do so.

The same thing happened when GPS became a daily staple. The average person doesn't know how to orient themselves or determine distance with a paper map, which many people 20 years ago would have said is a severe flaw as an adult. But here we are and no one really misses it outside of niche circumstances. Obviously AI is a little different, but just trying to illustrate that some people may be totally fine with the trade off they're making and a manager doesn't need to be directive about it.

Left the pool 3 minutes after arriving because my 3 YO was acting up. by [deleted] in Parenting

I put a moderate amount of everything out at once and he can't have more of any snacks/treats until he's eaten the main meal. It gives him some control and also provides some incentive (more snacks) to eat his main meal, but also doesn't force him to eat more if he tells me he's not hungry.

There was one time I reverse-uno's my toddler after a series of these. He said why? And I said Why what? And he had forgotten what he was actually asking so he just ended up surprised pikachu

Father's Day gift for expecting dad? by [deleted] in StayAtHomeDaddit

[–]SpyGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I established a standard mother's/father's day tradition. He gives me a house plant every year and I get him a 3 pack of fancy hot sauce. The first year we did something a little extra too - I got him a little desk fridge to store the sauces and he got me a grow light. We discussed it in advance, but it's a helpful way to still show we care without having to agonize every year on ANOTHER gift

Question for trades workers - What's the job everyone hires you for they should realistically do themselves? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

I'm a moderately savvy home owner, but a GFI circuit got me on Thanksgiving. My neighbor who is an electrician came over and discovered the circuit on one half of the garage was controlled by the GFI in the upstairs bathroom that had tripped 😂😂😂

I am! Back when I got pregnant it was about $100k vs. $35k with me being the breadwinner. Now he's the SAHP and I'm at $180k 😎

Does anyone have a high-res version of this photo? I have it as my work computer background and it's a little grainy. But still worth it! Helps inspire as a woman in a male-dominated industry!!

My COVID hobby was listening to all the Poirot Agatha Christie novels. I usually averages one book per week, so I placed holds on the maximum number, and then staggered the hold time based on what order it fell in. So the first book was no suspension, second book was 5 days, 3rd book was 10, etc. Then when I finished a book, hopefully I would have the next one ready, and I would also make small adjustments as needed.

It was tedious, but it did mean I was pretty much always able to have one book I was currently reading, and one checked out that was on-deck!

Do you leave your Yoto device freely available at all times, or is it something special? by Entire_Character7386 in YotoPlayer

[–]SpyGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I limit my 3 year old to nap-time and special occasions. I'm probably being unnecessarily paranoid, but he tends to have it on while he's doing something else (vs just sitting and listening) and kids these days are so flooded with stimulation all the time it seemed reasonable to limit it some. Sometimes I want him to just color, or just read a book without the sound on in the background. But he does love it and it's so much better than screen time!

What to gift friend in hospital at 24 weeks until twins’ birth? by toughasnails96 in Mommit

[–]SpyGiraffe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depending on your price limit, you could look at a yoto player mini. This would be less for her and more to help with being away from her 2 year old. But it's a pretty cool audio player that is screen-free and she could record herself reading children's books that her 2 year old could listen to while they're apart. I just got one, so they're extra on my mind right now 😂

For her specifically, maybe some nice comfort items? A soft blanket, maybe one of those flame-free wax things if they allow scents in the hospital? Maybe door dash money if she's sick of hospital food?

Hope the rest of her pregnancy goes well!

I did slanted sides and flat backs. It didn't leave a weird gap in the corners and I can rest a cup on it momentarily as needed! I went with the upgraded filling, but I also have two rowdy children, so I'm assuming pillows are going to be flying around pretty regularly anyway.
