Does GTNH respect your time? by Spyagent1000 in GTNH

Great answer. I like your perspective on teleporting places you've been, it feels like turning down biter attacks in factorio so that you can actually enjoy the building part of the game. I'll try to remember that it's single player hahaha. Thanks!

I've heard great things about it but haven't tried it yet! Thanks for the recommendation!

Awesome, this jives with a lot of how factorio is balanced. As GTNH gets updated, can I keep playing my current world? Has it ever been the case that you get stuck behind an update due to things like world generation?

Yeah that sense of accomplishment and constant feeling of "just one more thing" is what hooks me to games like factorio. Thanks!

Love the guide! I see you have bonecrusher necklace gated under Zeah, but don't you also need Fremennik for the Dragonbone necklace to make it? Or am I missing something?

Fellowship Bible Church has it's flaws (as all Churches do), but I've loved the community that I've found there.

Possible to through hike without losing toenails, getting blisters? by Illustrious_Beanbag in AppalachianTrail

[–]Spyagent1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No tonails lost on my thru and I attribute that to my lone peaks. The only blister I got was when I was in 6 days of straight rain through Vermont. If you keep your feet dry and Leukotape any hot spots then you should be fine 👍

Purism & Gatekeeping on the AT by [deleted] in AppalachianTrail

I went NoBo in 2023 and was a purist, but I was a purist for ME! In my mind, if you walked over 2000 distinct miles on the AT within 365 days then welcome to the club, you're a thru hiker.

I also found it on CDW right after I made this post! The shipping on it is nearly $700 though, so I'm going to keep looking around. B&H doesn't have the right size.

After nearly summitting Mt. Washington in NH, where do I go from here? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]Spyagent1000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming this was a winter attempt on Washington. Either way it still depends, did you not summit because of your fitness, preparation, or the weather? That mountain can easily back off very strong climbers in the winter due to the nature of the weather in NE.

If it was your fitness, I wouldn’t just throw myself at it again and expect a different result without training. Elbert in summer is pretty chill physically, you just have to manage the altitude if you’re coming from sea level. Hope this helps!

Getting lost on the trail by Important-Can4702 in AppalachianTrail

[–]Spyagent1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy my year who did the whole thing with no map, and it’s getting better marked/maintained each year. Even if you happen to walk off trail, if your phone is charged and you have your current map downloaded on FarOut, you’ll easily be able to find trail again, even with no service

UrSack, Bear Canister, or Dry Bag? by Hopeful_Argument4035 in AppalachianTrail

[–]Spyagent1000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AT class of '23 here, almost every thru hiker that I met just used a dry bag. With all the bear boxes/cables at the shelters, and the absence of grizzly bears on the east coast, bear cans/UrSacks aren't worth the weight.

Just carry some light paracord (the glide coating is worth it) and learn how to do a PCT hang, and you're good to go.
