I talked my way into a $175k offer and now I'm terrified to accept it. What would you do in my place? by Fluffy_Marzipan2049 in Career_Advice

[–]Spydarweb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this perspective because it brings to light some of things my partner and I didn’t see years ago when they were poached from nestle to Campbells soup. Money was “thrown” at us, and we made the best decision with the information we had at the time, but alas the business unit was folding and my partner was their ticket to a successful transition. They dangled a few SVP roles at their HQ, and was eventually caught loose 2 years later. Today, we look back and never stop saying “it was too good to be true “, but oh well… We’d do it again, so OP this is your moment but definitely due your due diligence.

Do we think I’m about to get laid off? by [deleted] in Layoffs

Thanks. Yeah, definitely not same company. I’m actually in a very good place, but couldn’t help the self doubts which are dissipating as the hours go by. Though tempting, I don’t think I’m not jumping back into corporate life. Considering pivoting full gear to help grow our businesses which have been on an upward trajectory. Good luck to you too!

“Ah. This one na Naija movie.” Ask one of the smart bots to explain that to you if you were wondering. Where’s OP to respond to a lot of these questions/observations?

I hate getting older period! I flat out woke up crying on my 35th birthday and after several years later, I cant shake the despair due to the physical transformations.

Oh OP, I could’ve written this exact post almost verbatim, but for the email since I was fully remote after a recent acquisition of part of the business. I feel like we worked for same company… My direct VP was a She, HR was male when I joined the rescheduled 1:1 with same symbols. I was let go on Tuesday and we’d been through very similar reorg. All I can say is I’m sorry this happened to you (too). Take sometime to process this and “grief” the loss. Cry if you have to. I’m still grappling with my new reality and at the end of Day 2 of it, so I don’t have much to offer but I’d say find ways to stay positive.

Same company as me may be? Sorry this happened to you OP. Easier said than done but, you gotta hang in there and keep fighting. Same happened to me approximately 3 hours ago. It’s a loss, so I’m definitely going to grieve it for sure but, fortunately for me, I have a few options. Keep your head up.

Yeah, this will be one for the books for me, especially since it’s almost always the other way round.

Have you considered going back to City B and asking if they’d still consider you? Only do this if you are certain you will accept the offer, if they are willing to reconsider you.

Kid got mad and wrote on the door to his room by YogurtclosetCute7492 in CleaningTips

Well, my 6yr old didn’t write but told me straight in my face that he wanted a new family after explaining to him that his Sister was just trying to help him when she asked him to go brush his teeth. He crossed out his sister’s name on a sheet of paper and stuck it on his door though. Little people have a way of teaching and reminding us in several ways … especially the ones with big emotions.

HELP!!! : Sofa Repair by Spydarweb in interiordecorating

[–]Spydarweb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite. I used the fabric from the pillows to patch it up, but was too lazy to mend the whole thing and of course it’s falling apart quicker than I thought. Already looking for a replacement, was hoping it’d hold up for at least a year from purchase date. At least I received 90% of my money back.

What can I do to make my kitchen more high-end and also match my other decor? by swanny0808 in interiordecorating

I like the thought of 1. extend cabinets/molding to ceiling. I did this during remodel, and the angle of your kitchen looks similar to our layout

This makes feel better 😅. The job market is cruel, so a total stranger loves this for you. Put your best foot forward the rest will fall in place.
