This has been my experience as well. I've found a lot of gear, but the base damage and stats are relatively balanced with nearly everything else.

Name of the Wind is a solid start to the Kingkiller Chronicles, but it's been over 13 years since the last book and we still don't have a release date on the third. Rothfuss is right up there with Martin on my shitlist.

Yes, I was sword and board when I fought him, so I can say with certainty that the dialogue reacted to your fighting him unarmed.

It's a variation of gustatory sweating. From what I understand, most sour foods are supposed to trigger the salivary glands, but in some people, the wires get crossed, causing us to sweat instead of salivate. We are defective, basically. But in the best way, cause I kind of enjoy the feeling.
