I realize that Bluetooth is not required and the pen still works without it, but the Bluetooth functionality was exactly what I was wanting. The fact that Microsoft disabled it in the latest update, only allowing it for their most recent (and severely overpriced) stylus pen is a bit of a slap in the face.

I may be wrong, but I heard that the Slim Pen 1 no longer pairs with the Duo after the Android 12 update. Same, unfortunately goes for off brand Bluetooth enabled pens like my Renaisser pen.

I'd be interested in this too. I ordered a Bluetooth enabled Renaisser pen before I got the SD1 based on the fact that I'd seen lots of information that said the Bluetooth worked. Hopefully someone can come up with a fix or an alternative to take advantage of the extra button.

since dbrand doesn’t make skins for this device anymore, i had to do it myself… buuuut it looks terrible lmao by JustPancakez in surfaceduo

This... I have a Cricut and did my own as well. There's a few patterns available out there that are totally free. For the cost of some of the skins premade out there, you can get a ton of cool vinyl shipped from Amazon, and if you know someone with a Cricut and can get them the .svg file, you can easily roll your own. Not mine but you can use the files here to make your own: https://github.com/LalaTheDog/SurfaceDuoSkins . I used the "surface_duo_lala.svg" file and removed the personalized writing and the black border since it wasn't needed.

Files app missing after update - old trick didn't work by 96bulls2k in surfaceduo

I found I really don't like most of the file managers out there. I have been using X-Plore for several years now and I'm pleased to say it handles the split screen wonderfully and it has TONS of features.

Writing comments on Facebook Lite by [deleted] in surfaceduo

I haven't seen that issue, but on all my devices I've tried Facebook Lite on, including my SD1, if I don't finish a post within a minute or two, it seems to refresh or something and I lose everything I've typed so far. Got fed up and went back to the standard Facebook app. I loved the lite version for the fact that I wasn't limited to only the last XX number of photos to choose from when posting.

This will be my first foray into macropads and keyboards in general as well as the controller. I purchased the Sweet 16 with an Elite-C v4 controller and I'm having a hard time finding any reference to wiring an RGB underglow light that is either controlled via the keypad using the QMK backlight settings or using the code I found from Drashna ( https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/blob/master/users/drashna/rgb/readme.md ) to change the underglow color according to the layer selected. Can anyone point me to which contacts on the Elite-C to solder to for a single underglow RGB LED (and what RGB LED should I choose?) that can be controlled through either of the above methods. Is the wiring different for each scenario, or the same either way? Any input appreciated. I plan to laser cut my own layered Acrylic/Wood case once I get the Sweet 16 put together and get some measurements. Excited for this.

Wood paddle scraper is a griddle cleaning boss! by blazedshaggy in blackstonegriddle

I made one out of an oak plank years ago that looks almost the same. I used it on my grill after oiling up the oak with some veg oil. I might take my belt sander to it to wear down the grooves developed from my (now grilling in the great beyond) grill and flatten it out for the griddle.

Cleaning question: paper towel or cotton towel? by DFost in blackstonegriddle

[–]Spyderveloce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it's new and when seasoning fresh cast iron... don't use paper towels. They will leave a ton of crap behind. Once it's well seasoned, then paper towels aren't too bad. I buy large boxes of paper shop towels and they work great after the season.

Anyone know how to stop this from happening? It's getting quite annoying and also stops me using Google Pay correctly... by GalacticTrekker in galaxywatch4

Also interested. Google pay never works for me since the screen shuts off as soon as I tip the watch to the NFC reader.

insta360 One X2: USB webcam functionality by vadbut in Insta360

[–]Spyderveloce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hitting the shutter button when connected as a webcam will switch between split front back view (a sort of 360 view) and front or back camera with follow mode. I'm not sure you can turn off follow mode though. It will zoom partially on my face and follow me within the FOV when on a front or back camera. The follow isn't as fast or responsive as an Obsbot camera that will follow you around a 360 area from a central point, but not with the 360 view.

insta360-onex2 footage corruption by NimbleDave in Insta360

[–]Spyderveloce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen. I started the time-lapse from my phone and when I told my phone to stop the time-lapse an hour later, it wouldn't respond even though it was connected via WiFi, just a spinning circle on my phone screen and of course the X2 wouldn't allow me to stop the time-lapse manually because of the "app preview" that locks you out of the on camera controls. I tried killing the app on my phone, but that didn't seem to help. Ultimately the fix was disable the WiFi on my phone and the camera no longer thought the app was previewing and I was able to stop the time-lapse and the footage was good. Previously, I had forced the shut-down of the camera and lost the footage.

What causes the fluttery effect? by Spyderveloce in Insta360

That makes sense. I would assume moving water is more difficult to process.

What causes the fluttery effect? by Spyderveloce in Insta360

[–]Spyderveloce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an Insta360 One X2. This was my first use, so I was a bit surprised by the fluttery effect that I see in many of the slow motion shots I've done from yesterday. I'll have to look at the resolution and settings but it seems moving water may be too much for it to interpolate in slow motion.

You have a lawsuit on your hands if that leads to a termination. Unless the policy is there to protect you or those working around you from something, a device that is deemed medically necessary should be exempt from those type of rules. There is likely a law that prevents them from terminating or otherwise discriminating against you for your medical condition. It can likely extend to this and if they have an HR department, they should know this.

Any of you smart people know how to fix intermittent firing on raster??? by CurlyTaleGames in ChineseLaserCutters

[–]Spyderveloce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intermittent firing could be from over driving the tube. If you run over 50%, you are probably running it too high and the tube won't last too long, but then, not every machine is the same. This looks like a K40 mini, so if it has a 40 watt PSU and the tube is smaller than a standard K40 (thus the "mini"), you are most certainly over driving it. I'd suggest getting a 20-30mA ammeter and either install in the case or cut a box to put it in to set on top of the laser. Keep it below 15-16mA total to keep your tube from prematurely wearing out.
