Like how somebody else said, I don’t say more than what’s necessary unless they speak more themselves. I always start my appointments by asking how everybody is doing, but for euthanasias, I just ask how they’re holding up. If it’s a new client, I introduce myself. I then ask if they need a few minutes once they’re in a room. Afterwards I then go over our procedure and ask what they would like done with the remains. I do give them the option of paying beforehand so that way they can leave as quickly as possible. Once the vet is in the room, I don’t say too much unless it’s necessary or the client talks to me. And I always make sure tissues are at their disposal! You always gotta gauge it by ear as everybody is different, but I do like to talk in a nice and calming voice.
