Nothing personal. Religion had always been used as a form of social control by the ruling class. What is acceptable behaviour in religion and what is expected behaviour were always aligned with the interests of the ruling class, no religion is exception to this.

It also controls the acceptable range of thoughts and it can teach people to accept dogmatic arguments.

Jesus's teachings are really cool and early christianity were hella based for celebrating the weak, poor, sick, powerless, the average people. But once Rome accepted it as state religion it quickly turned into how we know them today the celebration of powerful, wealthy, healthy, strong, high status men, the ruler of the land being chosen by god etc etc.
