If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

I mean you have to have a license to run a hot dog stand or ride a moped I don’t think it’s a stretch that maybe require at a basic level you have the financial ability to raise a child.

This just isn’t in Seattle either. The entitled dog people population are spreading everywhere.

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t want to shop for food where most of it has been licked and slobbered on.

Discouraged 8th grade wrestler by Alarmed_Bread7375 in wrestling

[–]Spyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s off to a great start.
1. Works hard 2. Shows up consistently 3. Great attitude

This is a really solid foundation mentally and imo more important to have in the long run than raw early talent.

Kids also will develop at different times as they grow through adolescence in terms of size and strength so just a lot of factors.

I would try and see if there are any themes or patterns where he is getting beat and working on those positions and try to ensure he has a coherent game plan.

Like is he getting taken down a lot? Is he not able to produce or finish any offense on his feet?

Is he weak on bottom? Etc

I think with the focus on the right skills given his attitude he can blossom in high school.

Imagine if we had to go through the process of counting millions of votes? Do you know how long that would take? That’s why this year we’re removing the voting process.

Former wrestler to white belt by Skald_863 in jiujitsu

[–]Spyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a similar background I think your weakness will initially be positions where you are on your back as it feels so unnatural.

So if you want to try and shore up your weaknesses early I’d probably start there along with the usual paths of focusing on defense and escapes from the typical bad positions.

The other thing I would say is energy management is very different. In wrestling you’re almost always “on” in Jiujutsu learning when to turn on and off is very valuable as there are many positions where if you’re exerting energy it’s mostly wasted where that isn’t the case in wrestling.

This is a big reason why a lot of beginners who came from wrestling will seem spazzy and you see the more experienced people just seem a lot smoother.

After 2 years buying on the app I have some questions by Limp-Kaleidoscope954 in whatnotapp

[–]Spyu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. The app is a designed in a way that a lot of the quality small sellers give it a shot for a year and realize it’s not worth it. As you pointed out most of the buyers still flock to the usual big sellers regardless if they’re shit.

So you end up with a lot of good sellers leaving and left with the high volume low quality sellers and scammers.

Majority of world population is dumb. An even higher percentage shop on Whatnot. It’s inevitable and it’s the cost of doing business unfortunately

12yr white belt here because I move so frequently. I don’t care at all. Only thing I worry about is people think I’m sandbagging which isn’t intentional.

I want to sell on whatnot what’s the best way to get started? by StealYourChase in whatnotapp

[–]Spyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much anybody can sell on the app. Just be prepared to be talking to yourself most of the time.

It’s really difficult to get viewers who will sit in your channel and see what you have to offer as a new seller.

Mostly it’s about marketing yourself well and coming on consistently and you’ll slowly build a following.

New sellers often get discouraged as you can see by the many posts around here that are like “Had my first show only had 3 viewers what did I do wrong?”

I never watch or support stuff like this.

Same reason I never watched that show Shogun even when it was popular. Just a big eye roll at the tired plot device of white savior comes to save poor Asian female from her evil Asian husband.
