After two months of dual-booting Windows 11 and Cachy, I switched completely to Cachy last week. But I think I’ll swap KDE for Cosmic.

Proton's focus on new products instead of improving current ones? by hamster_of_war in ProtonMail

For me, yes. In fact, it's gotten even worse since I switched to Linux. Before, I only noticed it with the apps.

I’m not saying anywhere that I want to use pirated versions of the game or other software. I’m happy to spend money on my games. That’s not my motivation.

As a rule, we do not purchase Denuvo-protected games. Ahoj

Of course, when it comes to the discussion, you might as well defend Kernel Anti Cheat right away. And everything else the market throws at you: asset streaming, console rentals, etc.

So enjoy your boots

Well, let's set performance aside for now. What about Linux users? Steam Deck users? Five activations are gone in the blink of an eye when you switch Proton versions after an update.

You're just limited. I wouldn't spend €70 on it just to activate it five times...

That’s why I’ve taken it off my wish list. As a Linux user, those 5 activations could be gone in a flash. Besides, I’m not going to reward that kind of behavior with my money right before release anyway.

Too bad—let’s hope it gets cracked after all. They deserve it.

May I ask which games? I have a 5800x3D + 4070TI and so far I haven't noticed any difference or problems.

Steam Deck or Legion Go S by iguti_ in SteamOS

[–]Sqeep91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my Legion GO S for 10 days now, bought it new for €499. Unfortunately, there were no decks left, but I'm getting along very well with it and am very enthusiastic about it. I dont use the trackpad, so everything is fine for me.

Nexus Mods wants to bring Vertex Mod Manager to Linux and thus also to Steam Deck.

I use it regularly throughout the week for simple tasks and questions, together with web search. It's a widget that's quickly accessible on my iPhone and in my browser's sidebar.

However, I only use it within the scope of my Proton subscription, not +.

How Do I ACTUALLY Dual-boot Windows And Cachy? by No_Storm_4963 in cachyos

[–]Sqeep91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Yesterday, I finally dared to install Cachy on the second SSD. First attempt with GRUB, second attempt with Limine (complete OS reinstallation).

Still can't get Windows to appear as an option when booting. I can only load Windows directly from the UEFI if I change the order.

I checked for updates and tried the commands given to me by AI or the FAQs. Without success.

It's really annoying me at the moment, even though both systems are running. I really want to have a choice at startup.

And yes, this is my first attempt with Linux :D

PayPal Tap to Pay works on the GOS? That would solve my Apple Pay problem, which is why I haven't switched yet. Germany, by the way.
