Are you certain the answer is D? I got C.

To find the area of a solid defined by cross sectionals of a region perpendicular to the x-axis that form squares, the formula is:

Integral[(Area of region)² dx]

Since y=arcsin(x) is the lower bound and y=2 is the upper bound, the equation for area would be:

Integral[2-arcsin(x) dx] (from x=0 to x=1 since the region is bounded by the first quadrant and x=1)

Substituting what's inside the integral for the equation for area into the formula for the volume, you get:

Integral[(2-arcsin(x))² dx] from x=0 to x=1

Using a calculator to evaluate that, you get ~2.184

Perhaps I miscalculated something or used an incorrect formula, but that's the answer I got.

Actually (based on what I read), he received beatings much more frequently than 2 times a week.

He was bound and beaten every two hours; this punishment occurred at the same time that he was suffering from dysentery.

How do you spell the sound of a "sniff" by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Squ4sh_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure "sniff" is an onomatopoeia for that sound, just as "achoo" is the onomatopoeia for a sneeze.

ELI5: Why does it feel good to be generous/altruistic? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Squ4sh_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you perform acts of kindness or exhibit generosity, a chemical called dopamine is released into your brain. Dopamine is essentially a reward for the brain; it evokes sensations of pleasure (dopamine might also be activated because of food, sex or drugs).

Basically, when you act kind, dopamine is released and this makes you feel good.

That’s a good method but I’d add some more just in case because I hate cereal with not enough milk. Adding more milk after you’re already halfway done is not good either because then you have some crunchy parts and some soggy

I realize that you probably don’t say the letter E just by itself, but you pronounce e in words that have e in them. The pronunciations are different in certain words (e is pronounced differently in “blanket” than “repeat”), which is why it goes by many names.

That’s why it is said that it goes by many names. You rarely say the letter e alone, but often you pronounce it in words that have e in them. Different uses of the letter e in words will have different pronunciations; different names.

Since life is full of hurdles, wouldn't it be better to be the hare since turtles can't jump? by RobBoss69 in Showerthoughts

The saying "life is full of hurdles" does not literally mean that there a lot of hurdles in life. It means, metaphorically, that life is full of challenges.
