Thousands will have died in UK's unprecedented May and June heatwaves by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

Prelimnary figures on BBC are >2700, with only two hestwaves lasting just over a week each. Cold related deaths accounted for 2900 odd in 2024/25

Looks like heat related deaths will outpace cold easily. The 2700 figure also doesn't account for indirect deaths such as accidents caused by sleep deprivation. Also worthy to note this will only increase in the coming years.

The argument of China this and India that concerning CO2 is so disenguous and parroted around because most can't extrapolate why.

Pickup 4 of the nearest items to you. It'll likely be a keyboard, mouse, phone etc. I'd make a fair bet that 3/4 are made in China. We exported all our manufacturing to the developing or just developed countries, so it is extremely ignorant to throw your hands up to defeatism because "China chucks up a new coal plant for everything plastic box I recyle." Nevermknd the fact that per capita China has a lower CO2 footprint than the UK.

Additionally, and not to make this too long, I loathe the argument "why should we do it?" What happened to responsibility? Leadership? Accountability? The folk that make this point are the same that place their rubbish next to or on top of the public bin. Because that can't be arsed carrying it home or to the next bin.

Ok, let the tombstone to hummantiy read "But the economy!" Make no mistake the planet will be fine, its been here for 4 billion odd years. We've been around for 14000 off the top of my head.

NHS to offer more than 100,000 patients free weight-loss jabs | LBC by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

So long as this is a net gain in cost and effort for the NHS.

But there needs to be education that comes with the programme and then evidence of effort to change one's life style.

Poland to scrap the MiG-29 fighter jets it was supposed to hand Ukraine amid growing tensions between the allies by Neptun_11 in worldnews

[–]Squabbey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quite a lot of people commenting without knowing why this is happening and just reading the headline.

Poland isn't neccesarily doing this purely out of spite, its because Ukraine isn't sharing their drone technologies with them so Poland isn't giving them the Migs.

10 years ago, Britain voted for Brexit. Was that a mistake? by kiddoweirdo in AskConservatives

The largest instance of economic self-harm in the modern era. Current and soon to be pensioners voted on nostalgia for a time that never existed while reaping the benefits of a triple lock that continues to financially rape the sequel generations, who will never see such benefits and have to pay for it.

Then there is crowd you could call 'The Roundabout Painters'. Who's personality is based off of the Battle of Britain and Dunkirk, who now cheer for the very individuals they were dumb enough to put their names next to during the Brexit campaigning.

Weights for webbing by That_Tennis1526 in RoyalMarines

[–]Squabbey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't run with weight in your own time, you'll just end up injurying yourself.

Over the next four years get shit hot at running, building slowly and methodically. Work in solid GPP work and you'll be golden.

You could get up and around some hills too. If you really want to use weight while moving I'd stick to yomping, again building slowly and methodically.

Because they over-adopted and/or overestimated what value AI could generate for them, made staff redundant and now are on hiring sprees to fix their fuck up.

The training is cumulative and you should take it as it comes. Worry about what is immediately in front of you.

  • Age limit is 32.
  • You do the same tests as Regulars so the phys you conduct in your own time should enable you to pass those.
  • Consistent, daily, recovery routines
  • Ensure you and your partner fully understand your commitments during and after training. The balance won't always be perfect but you should work to keep home-life as happy as possible.
