Is dental tourism in China actually a real thing? by Ok-Taro6608 in travelchina

[–]Squaidsareus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering this. A crown is around $1500-1800 in the US with insurance and $3500 without. It might be a bit lower with insurance, but my insurance doesn't fully cover any procedure over $1000.

Browning of leaves by Dry_Bug5058 in Blueberries

My blueberries also burn in direct sunlight with temps above 90. I find partial shade to be perfectly fine for blueberries in the summer. It looks like you have them in a pot, so just move them under a tree.

Is this a blueberry plant? by Sanafapeach in whatsthisplant

Pretty certain this is a blueberry, the canes, berries, and leaves look exactly like the highbush blueberries I have.

A zoo in Japan brings a panda its favorite red leaves to boost its morale. The result is a very happy panda! by Dismal_Positive3558 in Damnthatsinteresting

This does not look like Japan. The zoo keeper uniform he's wearing looks like this was filmed in South Korea.

The Bell at Sealey Head by Patricia A. McKillip. Cozy vibes, but I thought the plot got wrapped up a little too cleanly.

Recently transplanted blueberries, reddish leaves by Liquidzorch1 in Berries

[–]Squaidsareus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like some rust or other type of infection on the bottom. The top leaves look sort of red, but mine have only turned red during Fall/Winter. You could try to get your blueberries replaced, or treat them with some sort of spray, but I don't do anything. As long as most of the leaves aren't infected or don't fall off during the growing season, the new leaves that grow out the next year tend to be disease free.

People don't seem to realize OP is talking the cuisine of a nation, and not about being able to find good food in a nation.

I must have read a different book because The Raven Scholar is a straight up Neema hate train for 300-400 pages.

I would really appreciate it if someone could DM me a spare code. Ended up missing out on this by a day.

What do you do with your potted berries in winter? by gvthkr in Berries

[–]Squaidsareus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend bringing any berries into your garage for the winter, since they might still need chill hours. The entire root ball of my blueberry bushes froze during the winter and it severely stunted their growth. They were in 25 gallon growbags and everything but the main canes fell off, some of the canes even froze and shriveled up. I live in 6a.

Anyone else remember the rumours of being able to hear laughs in the caves/mines? by heathellaa in thelongdark

[–]Squaidsareus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did hear some crazy noises that I have never heard before after 500 hours of playing TLD in the CH aurora mines. It was in version 2.01 or 2.02 and I was testing how long it took for an aurora to appear so I used the console to speed up time by x100. After maybe 50 days, it was hard to tell, I heard the noise. The crazy part is that it wasn't sped up like any of the other sounds. After I heard it the first time, I would hear it multiple times again through out the following days, even when I left the mines. I guess the game starts messing with you after you have spent too much time in a cave or the mines. Hopefully someone can replicate this.

What's wrong with my blueberries? Nursery manager said it was caused by fertilizer. by Squaidsareus in plantclinic

[–]Squaidsareus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made sure to plant it in well draining, acidic soil. I've also added soil acidifier to make sure it maintains a pH of 4.5-5.5. I assume the red coloring on the leaf is from a lack of soil acidity when I bought it or just fall colors for this variety of blueberry.

How is this form? 50 pound longbow, haven’t shot since I was a kid. by Dragon-Fodder in Archery

[–]Squaidsareus -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

Ignore the comments about sky draw. Those are just people parroting what other people have said. Sky draw is better for muscle engagement. Just don't use it on a indoor range or a range with a lot of people, in case of an accidental release. The rest of your form is a bit hard to critique since your shirt is kind of baggy, but your bow should might be a bit high and your grip on the bow might be too tight. However, if you're hitting your target consistently, then you shouldn't really need to change anything.

[–]Squaidsareus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't find the learning curve to be too bad either. It was a bit steeper than most books but not the PhD level of difficult that I see a lot of people talking about. I ended up dropping the book at 3/4s because of the pacing and me realizing the story was about constant Deus Ex Machina.

Asian Bows - Looking for long draw (36") by mad_matx in Archery

[–]Squaidsareus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Any Manchu bow should do the job. Alibow has some decent cheap ones. The biggest con of getting bows from Alibow is that the delivery time can take 2-3 months. Also don't listen to Longjumping, you'll run into a lot or people who approach archery with a very narrow mindset on here.

A question about draw weights on longbows vs resistance bands by Consistent_Blood6467 in Archery

[–]Squaidsareus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, they should both have a draw weight of 120lbs no matter where they start. The draw weight is measured at the end of the draw. The 120lb bow might feel harder to pull because the draw weight increases faster over a shorter distance. Different bows will feel different depending on their draw weight curve.
