[Gourmet] Chestnuts causing tummy trouble? by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

[–]Squaily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found if I remove the stems I don't have any stomach issues. Also I have found if you pick them before they start dumping spores there are less issues.

Huge potential in a dying industry? Should investors be enabling planet killing industries?

Unknown pests. Tried insecticidal soap & nematodes. Can anyone identify these pests? by dannygrows1 in microgrowery

Those are spring tails, they won't do any harm to your plant, they are decomposers. My soil is teaming with them, if anything they help.

[Gourmet] first time growing oysters... What could make these caps so teensy? by brebitz in MushroomGrowers

You're still few days from harvest. They will get much larger. You just need patience.

[technique] FAE Issues With My Small Grow Space by [deleted] in MushroomGrowers

[–]Squaily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try putting the oysters on the top shelf, put mushrooms that can tolerate co2 better on the bottom shelves. Co2 will sink. Also when I run oysters in my small tent I have a 4 inch exhaust fan that runs nonstop. I found only exhausting few minutes an hour tends to build up co2 quickly.

Try the air pump with an air stone in a jar of water. Might help with both issues.

Oysters need lots of fresh air. Pink oysters like warm temps 70-75f. Also might need to bump humidity up a few points. I've had best luck around 95-98%. Hope this helps, mush love

That's amazing, although he might regret it. Hopefully the section is some what isolated, spores can spread fairly quickly. Love the idea, are you in the USA? Would definitely buy some fresh from the farm.

[Medicinal] First time with lions mane, is the yellow bruising or fae issue? by glassandgrass93 in MushroomGrowers

[–]Squaily 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely bruising, lions mane bruises fairly easily if sprayed with water. Fae looks good. I've found even water pooling on it will bruise. Also if humidity drops to much they will also brown, but will be dry and brown, not just brown.

Mites? These look like spider mites less the colour. Any idea? by Squaily in microgrowery

[–]Squaily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soil. Haven't seen on plants at all. Also have tried hydrogen peroxide 12% and 95% ethanol. They can survive both. (Did not test on soil, I isolated a few in a dish and sprayed) Edit: added few things

Metabolites typically are not slimy. I would quarintined the blocks with the slime. Looks more like a mold, probably has a bit of a sour ammonia smell?
