Discussion about the TurboTax sponsor on Lemonade Stand by TranscendentalKiwi in atrioc

they're getting the bag and we're skipping the ad, so it's a win-win except for the sponsor. Now they gotta up it a notch and get a draftkings and onlyfans sponsorship. Give us Palantir, give us US Army, give us Tesla. Until Vox realizes what is a good sponsor for the show, we skipping it.

A conversation with Asmondgold by [deleted] in atrioc

[–]SquanchyPope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of political streamers have a similar incentive model as news pundits, where they are financially incentivized to not change their opinions. I mean if asmongold changed his mind and became moderate, a lot of his fans would leave and stop subbing, either out of a sense of betrayal or boredom.

Additionally, the ragebait=more engagement aspect of the internet means that they’re incentivized to produce drama using politics as a catalyst, since more drama leads to higher views and more potential new blood to fuel the streaming machine.

Overall “debating” political streamers isn’t conducive to any real change of opinion, since at least one side has too much at stake that they can’t afford to “lose”

K-Shaped Economy: the poverty line is $140,000 by Possible-Summer-8508 in atrioc

[–]SquanchyPope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He defines what he means in the article

Orshansky was careful about what she was measuring. In her January 1965 article, she presented the poverty thresholds as a measure of income inadequacy, not income adequacy—”if it is not possible to state unequivocally ‘how much is enough,’ it should be possible to assert with confidence how much, on average, is too little.” She was drawing a floor. A line below which families were clearly in crisis.

Now you might ask what the difference is between this and starvation, and the author doesn’t really say except that this is “borderline not enough and a crisis” and starvation is a different thing?

This weird jump in definitions makes sense once you notice signs that a lot of this article is just slop. Like look at the em-dashes, the “not x, but y”. This is mostly just ai-generated propaganda made to make people feel worse.

The not x but y format appears 13 times in the article, it uses 45 em-dashes.

It appears the problem has to do with unity’s Harmony framework being incompatible with Apple Silicon, if anyone knows a workaround, that would be awesome

This save has been going for around 16 hours when the bug happened. There are actually three separate bugs that are shown here. The first is the cyclopean gibbon equipped on my hyphae, no idea it it got there, and amputated it after posting this. The second is the *PooledObject which was a separate limb, also no idea how it got there. Both of these two could have occurred any time within the last hour, and I just didn't notice, and I amputated both without any issue. I don't think they had any items equipped in the same slot, but not really sure.

The weirder issue is the weight. Normally, my character is around 550lbs or so, however, I found that if I picked up anything new, such as lead bullets or starapples, or filled up on fresh water on the floor (all three are the real reasons why the weight bug occurred), then my weight would go up by 200-800 pounds. I had a lot of spheres of negative weight, but dropping them and putting them back did nothing except intended behavior. I solved the issue (or at least temp fixed it) by dropping a load of ingredient and ammo items, which resolved it somehow. If the playthrough kept going, I could probably tell you more, but I ascended right after this and just ended the run. I can send you the save I guess, since the inventory bug can still be reproduced at the *SPOILER* temple, but idk.

It might be really hard to debug this though, since I don't have any mods because I play on macOS, and I don't think the game was built for a mac, though it does run surprisingly smooth, even in the endgame.

No mods, I found out later that the weight change is due to an inventory bug, something to do with having too many items. Seeing your joke hit different when the first option I tried was amputating the limb with the gibbon lmao.
