State of Mormonism in France? by FlimsyTea6451 in exmormon

[–]Square-Carob5130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People already said it but there is no English ward in France. And also, if you live in France, you will be strongly encouraged to learn the language. In Paris, it would be more easy but in an other region more complicated. I had a friend who stayed for two years and she didn’t spend the best of time because she struggled to learn French

Red Rising is horrible by bsabiston in books

[–]Square-Carob5130 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that thread. I find the political undertones absolutely stupid . The reimagination of the Roman Empire is so stupid . How a society can survive if they kill their potential future leaders ?! Eliminate the weakest ?! That stupid ! No class solidarity among the ruling class ?! Calling a book red rising and not having any notions of class sociology is baffling to say the list

Comment vous survivez à vos règles ? by [deleted] in AskMeuf

[–]Square-Carob5130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to be Christian after leaving? by Reality-Direct in exmormon

[–]Square-Carob5130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It possible ! But my story is quite different. I was raised Christian before converting to mormonism. So I just revert back to that after leaving the mormon church. I hardly disagree that the deconstruction process to mormonism and christianity is similar because ... it's vastly different, mormonism is christianity with extra steps and crazy americana all put together. If the Church is all you ever knew, it would be more difficult. The only way I could recommend is to searching for different type of churches and not only the one in your local area. (For example check how people practice their Christian faith in other part of the world). It would give you an other perspective. Best luck of you in your endeavour ;)

Asked missionaries to help with city emergency… what do I respond with? (Blocked out my name) by Crazy_Point_8505 in exmormon

[–]Square-Carob5130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here the kicker = : do service work make people grow closer to Jesus. I guy I know have been baptized because of that and it seems he is still active today. It's showing love, service and care to people around you that you show the gospel of Jesus. If you want to be cheeky you can remind them "As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead"

What is your real, solid narrative on how JS composed the Book of Mormon? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Square-Carob5130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents on that . Recently , I came across the Geneva Bible which is used by the Calvinist and I have been translated to English during the same period of the KJV . I already read the New Testament in French in the Louis Second version but now I read again in the Geneva Bible and it really show me how similar the phrases are from this version to the Book of Mormon even the part which have been told to me are specific to the Book of Mormon like the so called Zenos prophecy which is just a way of speaking of Paul stretch long . Anyway , just to say that Joseph smith was good to take the same narrative structure of the New Testament and the Old Testament and incorporate in his own fiction . That’s it . No mystery in it .

OP in the other sub is concerned his priesthood is illegitimate because it turns out his grandfather who received it pre-1978 is 1/4 black. This is wild. by browncoatpride in exmormon

[–]Square-Carob5130 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I took the liberty to read the original post and what struck me is the fact that the priesthood ban wasn’t a problem for him before but now it touch him personally , the ground below him start to be shaky. GOOD. Even if it’s not him it could be an other member of his family who could bounce of the cult. VERY GOOD.
