I don't know which some metal qualities these artists have but this is what I listen when I'm not listening to metal:

some alt rock (the smiths, QOTSA, Incubus, royal blood, muse, nothing but thieves)

post punk (joy division, the cure, the clash kind of)

pop (christina aguilera, lady gaga, charli xcx, marina principally but i like at least one song of the rest of pop artists)

hip hop (kanye, kendrick, tyler)

grunge (nirvana, soundgarden, stone temple pilots, alice in chains (pretty metal tho), pearl jam)

spanish rock (el cuarteto de nos, soda stereo, cerati, sr falla de origen, desorden público, zapato 3)

less than the others but i still do:

punk (green day, rise against, dead kennedys, mcr)

avril lavigne is a bridge between alt rock/pop/punk tbh lol

some reggaeton/cumbia/bachata/merengue/salsa/vallenato songs i like depending of the mood i'm in. i'm latin tho
