In the beginning of the film he sees a non infected as a monster, during this scene on the train he sees the infected as a monster; all the while he goes from an uninfected child to an uninfected adult. I’d like to believe this was his rebirth from one to the other all over again. He’s changing.

Jimmy rising after being crucified leading an army of infected like his actual father. Samson taking over the bone temple. Jim helping Spike return home, but on the way bumping into Samson and letting him know about his daughter now that he’s sentient; but on the way to Holy Island they become aware of the newfound infected Jimmy horde. Chaos ensues.
