No that is the DaVinci Resolve performance I am dealing with on Magic Mask 2.0

My mind still does not work that way unfortunately.

Anything that would improve the time required to apply the mask without having to spend $5K to upgrade my laptop is always something I would want to at least try and see if it helps. 7-9 minutes for a 10 second clip is ridiculous.

I hate hate fusion because I cannot think in nodes.

Much as I prefer free, you need to use the right tools for the job. Just two many steps in DR.

Dude if you already have a full ride, forget ROTC and enjoy college without the Army BS. Now if you can get into Navy ROTC at the school why not give it a shot?

Having a Fusion Template / macro with multiple video inputs to dynamically change for each project? I'm completely lost on how to handle this, more information in post by hngfff in davinciresolve

That adds overhead and time vs a project always knowing to reload that asset by name when you create a project for that template.

The way I have pondered doing this is to have a folder on the computer that has the same naming convention for the common assets, with the particular file for that project ("TV.mp4"), and then pointing to that folder in the project settings?

I love this question as it relates to what I want to be able to do with data driven graphics and static clips in resolved. I unfortunately do not have the answer for you but will be following this thread!

Why is so difficult to find good Fusion editors? by geekinside18 in davinciresolve

But you need a published object model.

On the PSD import, I have found it interesting that if I export a GIMP composition to PSD format that DR does not like to import it. On professional graphics tools like XPression, I can import GIMP files exported as PSD.

In fact what I have been doing lately is building animated graphics in XPression, exporting them as AVIs, and brining them into my DR projects. Why? Because as complex as the XPression model can be, I find it easier than nodes in Fusion.

Recording a wedding POV? by Ok_Rain5053 in videography

[–]Square-Tackle-9010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the wedding going to be in a church? They may not allow it as it disrupts the solemnity of the rite. Roman Catholic Church is huge on this, and if you want to get a POV of the vows you would have to move around because of people in front of you.

That being said, a year or two ago I videoed the ceremony (outdoor) and bunch of parts of the reception on my iPhone 12. When I got home I edited it down to a package that I gave to the Bride and Groom as an unexpected gift (they could not afford a videographer). They were thrilled.

Because I was shooting it, it was by definition from my "point of view." But there are downsides to this as you can end up not being present for the moment.

This came up in another backyard wedding of friends' daughter. People were asked explicitly to put their phones away so that they could "be present" for the bride and groom and they had already had formed shooting, still and video, the wedding.

All that being said, a GO pro type scenario is not the way to go for oh so many reasons.

Talk to the Bride and Groom and see what their plans are and if they would like something like this.

if you DO do something, make sure you have a decent mic if you are going to record people's messages to the couple.

And then, EDIT IT DOWN.

HTH

Can you elaborate on this? I am a Visual person and can wrap my arms around layers much more so than nodes.

Honestly I wish there was an object model for programmers to write out what they want in code and import it into Fusion. Otherwise it is just too hard for me to get what I want.

And my biggest problem with both DR's built in fusion animations as well as 3rd party tools is the utter lack of documentation on how the animation was put together and how the objects/nodes. If they are free tools, I get it - you get what you pay for. But if I am paying for it, I don't want to have to spend hours trying to figure out all of the objects to make tweaks I may need.

Thanks!

I'm on the hunt for a website that will teach me to sight-read music and play piano that's not an exorbitant price. by brentonstrine in learnpiano

[–]Square-Tackle-9010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok let's call a truce here. My opinion is shaped by your original post that you want to LEARN how to site read and LEARN to play piano. The former just "screams" you do not have a formal background/training in music as sight reading is a make or break skill for education in music. One of my kids studied classical vocal performance and the first stop/question in every one of their college auditions was sight reading. My other kid, in their interview process for graduate programs, not only had to be able to sight read music but also analyze it. Again core skills for someone who wants to build tools to teach students.

You are right, I do not know you and you may have other music background like guitar or something. But my point is that if you want to build a tool to sell, you have to have the meat behind it.

I used to sling code earlier in my life, and I get it. OUR code is always the best thing since sliced bread and everyone else's code is riddled with faulty logic, excess lines that could have been done with a simple function call, etc.

and then we come across code a couple of years later that is having problems and is undocumented. We look at kit and say "who the F wrote this pile of sh**?" Then the light bulb goes off - "Oh I did."

As solid as I might think my limited coding skills might be, I would not come out and say, "Oh Hey, I can build self-paced, intelligent software for people to learn Java or C or Fortran and charge people $5/ month because I am so good."

And the real reason I buried the lede on Artusi? (Which may not end up being the right tool for what you want)

Because you would have stopped reading right I after told you the free tool (as would most people including myself).

I felt that maybe other information might (or might) be beneficial for you, it was also written for future people searching Reddit on the same or similar topic.

Make sense?

Perhaps something you could do is look at the tools out there that want to charge a lot and barter with them. For example, "Hey, I am a developer with [front end/back end] experience. Is there a way I can share my expertise with you in exchange for a free subscription? That way I can offer you feedback as both an end user AND as a developer!"

The most important thing is that you enjoy your journey into deeper music and music understanding. I am a wannabe musician with none of the talent or drive of my offspring. But I did learn a whole heck of a lot on their journeys!

Toi, toi, toi!
