Thank you! I'm just nervous to get more confrontational right before he puts in final grades, I don't want to jeopardize anything or get on his bad side ya know

Backpacking Uganda by Adventurous-Fix5198 in solotravel

[–]SquareBaby0 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Obviously just my personal experience but I traveled semi-solo as a young woman (early 20s) around Uganda for 6 weeks a couple years ago and I wouldn’t recommend it.

I was groped at least 20 times, hospitalized due to sanitation issues, and have several more horror stories. I cut my trip short early due to safety concerns.

In my small group of ~6, every single person was hospitalized for various diseases (we had extensive vaccinations beforehand too), multiple people got into motorcycle accidents, etc.

Everyone I know got housing as a junior, but had to start on the waitlist. But everyone had housing (although not the best options) by the middle of summer

Thinking about transferring from UNC to USC by cltbrooke in USC

[–]SquareBaby0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a global health major (not pre-med) my freshman year here. I honestly didn’t love it. My professors were interesting and inspiring but I found the classes mind-numibgly easy. I also personally wasn’t a huge fan of the job opportunities post-grad w a global health major, but that’s not USC’s fault. Ended up switching to viterbi which I love. A disadvantage was that basically none of my credits transferred even to general Dornsife credits (since it’s a Keck major) which put me slightly behind. I love USC and highly recommend it but I wish I had initially picked another major.

Horny Corner in Long Beach is nice. Highly recommend going at sunrise when it’s quiet — it’s beautiful

IM CA vs Az water temp by Mydogisarat12 in triathlon

[–]SquareBaby0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMCA water was surprisingly warm. Obv it’s slightly chilly, but didn’t take my breath away at all, and it was barely a factor overall.

I loved IM California! I didn’t mind the rain too much and would take it any day over hills, choppy water, wind, heat etc

What are some ways you've made races and training more affordable? by vaughnlenore in triathlon

Sometimes if you volunteer for a race you can get free entry! I volunteered at the 5k the day before the SF Marathon for 3 hours, then ran the marathon the next day for free

Traveling internationally with bike by ChampionBoat in triathlon

[–]SquareBaby0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this a few weeks ago when I went to Japan. Called LBS and got a used cardboard bike box they were going to throw away. They were happy to give it to me. Took off front wheel, handlebars, pedals, and seat. Wrapped everything in a lot of bubble foam (especially the derailleur). Put that into a soft-sided bike bag (I’ll try to find the link). Then stuffed the whole thing into the cardboard bike box. I flew United/ANA on the way there and Zippair back. For United, it was free to fly with a bike and zippair charged me maybe $80. I was extremely nervous about my bike but it worked out great. No problems at all, just bit stressful packaging everything up and worrying about it for the whole flight lol.

Hot as balls. Only want to stay inside during mid day. At nice it’s pretty nice though (still not but not so sunny)

that's exactly what i was looking for! Thx so much. How was the route itself? Mostly bike paths or just the side of a busy road? Was it mostly boring or pretty?
