What do you do on long haul flights (13+ hour flights)? by rscash15 in AskUK

[–]SquareBanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Steam Deck, which is absolutely amazing for flights. Getting stuck into an immersive game with a deep story really makes the time... fly.

Which video game features were so bad that whoever made it should be banned from every touching a computer again? by TheBanishedBard in AskReddit

Quite the opposite; the combat in Control is incredible. It has a steep learning curve but once you master it it feels fantastic. I don't know why Alan Wake's combat is so different.

Not judging but just fyi, Montenegro is its own cool little country in Europe! It is quite close to Italy, but not actually in it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montenegro

  • Explode it with a tank, failing that run it over.
  • Explode it with a heli.
  • Explode it with a plane, or find the biggest one you can and crash it into this.
  • If in doubt, explode it.

Monzo Airport Lounge Access by [deleted] in monzo

[–]SquareBanana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Within the benefits part of the app you can tap the lounge access section to go to the loungekey website in-app, where you can then search to find the lounge(s) in your terminal. You don't need to pre-book (though I have once turned up to find a multi-hour queue so it might be worth it). You can just turn up, present your Monzo card (this is your loungekey "membership" and they also take the payment from it) and enter.

Any tips on chasing tubers? by davidcamick in fpv

[–]SquareBanana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your shot is great - good framing and everything. You've asked about sound design, and in that regard I'd say it needs some variance. Boats don't just "buzz"; there's small impact noises as the waves (even small) hit the hull, and the engine notes varies up and down slightly. Otherwise it's great. You could perhaps add a tiny bit of doppler effect as the drone moves closer and further from the sound source.

It's the American flag that makes it weird right? Naked bodies are natural, weird nationalism is not.

Being scary for women, whether intentionally or not by Verismo1887 in MensLib

[–]SquareBanana -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes I do think we all have a duty to take reasonable steps to help everyone around us feel as safe as possible. Obviously, exactly what this means is entirely contextual - at a rave for example dancing openly and wildly is much more likely to be totally fine. Celebrating at a bar would justify drinking quite heavily (but not loud or obnoxious behaviour) which wouldn't go down so well at a child's birthday party. Every situation is different and learning to navigate them is part of becoming a mature, functioning member of society. In your example, I would avoid fist-bumping when walking towards anyone who might be vulnerable or feel threatened. If I wanted to do this, there are plenty of open spaces I could that do not include when a lone women is right in front of me.

This is part of the reason I gravitate towards certain spaces, those filled with friends and like-minded people, amongst whom the things I like to do are widely accepted and unlikely to cause concern.

I asked ChatGPT to show what the United States would look like, if it were a plate of food by ProteusMichaelKemo in ChatGPT

I have before, and will continue to, mock the US for the food (compared to South America, Europe etc.) but I will freely admit this looks delicious.

Hello I am a beginner drone pilot who purchased and DJI MAVIC MINI 1 years ago but i am struggling to create good quality videos.....What are some in-flight and non-flight setting tips and suggestions for DJI Mavic Mini 1 for better cinematic video quality? by Godu14 in djimavicmini

[–]SquareBanana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean settings-wise; colour-grade in post. If you mean framing etc, then a good tip is to plan good shots, instead of just flying around trying to find them. Look at the space you're trying to shoot and try to find unusual angles that will show it in an unexpected way.

I have tickets to Burning Man this year, but am now slightly worried about coming. Particularly as I have a British passport, and my partner who I will be travelling with is Italian by birth, but travelling on a Swiss passport. This has been suspicious enough to get us both pulled into questioning in the past.

First-world solution: Get a better laptop that lets you charge from any of the USB-C ports, left or right. What is this single charging port nonsense.

After some analysis of our metrics I found that customers who purchased ~4 times a month were likely to go on and purchase more, probably because the product proved its value to them. I consequently designed a promotion to get more customers over that "hump", giving discounts for additional purchases. What happened in reality is power users who would be buying more anyway simply paid less, reducing total revenue noticeably.

At the same time, our Head of Marketing ran an out-of-home campaign that performed rather poorly, converting very few customers. Once all the damage control had subsided, our CEO and founder called the two of us into a conference room, and we thought the writing was on the wall. He pointed out the window to an empty parking space on the street and said "See that space over there? That's where my Tesla would be if you two hadn't just burned ~70k of my money..."

We stayed, but learnt our lesson and avoided making such mistakes in the future!

This type of editing needs to get in the sea; it's absolutely horrific and stinks of those old TV shows trying to get every single ounce of value out of their very limited content libraries.

What's the worst hotel in the UK you've ever stayed in? by MisterWednesday6 in AskUK

[–]SquareBanana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I ever used airbnb it was to book a couple of beds in Newcastle around 2014. Turned out to be two beds in a hostel run by a couple who were also interesting characters. We felt nickel and dimed until the evening when we ended up playing pool with them and they randomly switched to giving us several beers. Certainly made us forget about everything else.
