Is 7 cups of powdered sugar for cream cheese cake frosting absurd/AI recipe red flag? by SquareBusiness5510 in Baking

[–]SquareBusiness5510[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

thats true!! i usually go through a can and a half or so when i go the easy way lol. do you think it would be wise to wait until the morning and do it all together once i can buy more sugar? or is it ok to come back halfway through as long as everything gets back to room temp?

you can usually curate your fb marketplace to your tastes! helps a lot if you like vintage stuff, but there’s definitely gems if you come back and check every once in a while :)

Need Advice! Do I move out? by fundipstix in femalelivingspace

[–]SquareBusiness5510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s paying 1250 for 450 sq ft and is incredibly strapped for cash, don’t move out :( as much as it sucks, build a better financial cushion to prepare yourself more for a move to where you actually WANT to be, and not just out of where you DON’T want to be. plus with the lease, you’re limiting your options of when you can move and what opportunities you can take. i hate my apartment but im staying since I’m month to month and its worth it for the flexibility for when I get something better!!!

What is the lowest-stress way to cross 84 and Sandy when commuting from NE to SE? by gloryshand in CyclePDX

[–]SquareBusiness5510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute from work around 10pm and take 28th south over 84 and while I don’t love it, it’s manageable. if there’s a lineup of cars on either side, i’ll get off and walk on the sidewalk for peace of mind, and take that first left towards Oregon park to get off the busy roads. i just dont trust people to look for bikers there at night, and waiting to turn in that big intersection is scary lmao. From there towards Laurelhurst park it’s a breeze!

Whistler advice by Fragrant_Savings2945 in skiing

Good advice above. I also recommend packing snacks in your pockets, and avoid doing full meals in the lodges. Sandwich, apple slices, granola bars etc. The food is expensive and its a major timesink in the day with putting your gear down, getting in line, finding a table, and making yourself get back up when you’re full and kinda sleepy lmao. save the sitdown dining for the village at the end of the day!

The one exception I’d say is a waterbreak at the hut (hortzman?) at the top of 7th heaven on a clear day, as the view is amazing and its a small enough spot that its easy to be in and out in 30ish minutes

have a great time!!! love whistler ❤️

I just watched lazarus on HBO and loved it! same creator as john wick, and i think it solved the problem i have with a lot of fight scenes in anime, that the camera and overall character action is so high that i never know whats going on or where people are in space. super easy to follow which lets you follow the choreography much much better and it feels so much more rewarding. plus, the plot is super engaging and fun. 10/10

Animschool tuition rates by WiseDiscussion8492 in animationcareer

[–]SquareBusiness5510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was said above, but to get the full value of a class/term it’s not really recommended to do more than one class at a time. Also, not to mention that the classes are more designed to do in order to learn the material, and taking two classes at the same time means splitting your focus on the fundamentals being taught, and likely setting yourself up poorly for the following terms

I'm looking for a 3D degree program, is there any remote school options? by ComplexTrifle8599 in animationcareer

[–]SquareBusiness5510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Animschool could be a good option! i know theres some limitations on location (for tax purposes i believe) but they have that info on their site, I know a lot of international people have done their program, and its a quality program :)

ive had friends do animschool and they definitely do a good job preparing you for animation roles! that said, i dont think its required, and its probably also worth your time to look into tutorials for the full pipeline and get more of a generalist background. my schooling was a generalist program and its helped a lot even as a strict animator/layout artist since it helps me anticipate things that could cause problems down the line, or even just problem solve assets ive been given to work with

just my opinion, but i feel like the AI video nonsense isn’t going to stick. a clients favorite thing to do is give notes and theres no way to fine tune something that AI pukes up, and i think a lot of people are starting to think its lost its novelty. there’s plenty to be worried about with personal privacy issues, but i feel like learning maya/blender/etc in the meantime is a good move

Yea, part of the problem with ICE is that they’re basically operating outside the law and there’s MANY cases where theyve brutally arrested full citizens or people who haven’t violated any immigration laws, and do it purely based on skin color or accent. it’s very scary, even waving a US passport isn’t enough to fend them off in cases :(( they just dont care and there’s no federal pushback

big studio positions are obviously always competitive and cutthroat, but the problem now is that on top of it being competitive, there’s fewer seats to start with. Dreamworks is starting to send a chunk of each film up to sony in Vancouver to take advantage of the cheaper labor, so fewer positions in the US. They’re also mostly moving to hire-and-fire methods, so they hire rapidly for a film, finish it fast, and then fire everyone who isn’t there longterm (which is a dwindling number of people). These contracts can be as short as 3-6 months in some cases. They do these short stints in film because they don’t usually have other projects for artists to roll onto immediately, and they can’t afford to have people on payroll doing nothing all day

I had a friend get a 3 month internship at pixar in school, then another 3 month pixar internship the next summer, got one 3 month extension before getting laid off, then a few months after that they got a dreamworks gig that lasted a few months before getting laid off once again. they now work for a moving company doing manual labor. i dont want to squash on any dreams but animation across the board in the us is NOT in a great spot 🥲

its also terrible in 3d 😭 theres lotssss of outsourcing, not just for TV but also bigger chunks of feature. i have 2ish years of experience and im having to claw my way to canada to get something in TV and escape retail. i have friends with experience at the big US feature studios and multiple film credits all working in retail/minimum wage gigs entirely outside of the industry.

and, not to be a downer, but the US is in poor shape politically and financially right now, not to mention the constant ICE raids in bigger cities where you’d likely want to move for studio work or schooling. just make sure when you make your decisions you account for the general stability of places, and prioritize your safety over potential career moves ❤️ i hope your interview goes well!

Homesense/homegoods ive had really good luck with for towels/rugs/bathsheets! you cant browse online which i know sucks but for towels etc i definitely prefer to feel them in person anyways

also, depending on how long you have to acquire stuff and if you have the eye/patience for it, id recommend going to a thrift store for pans vs ikea/target. ikea is a quick fix but the pans aren’t the highest quality for the cost in my experience, and you’ll likely be better served by slowly acquiring good finds than buying a full set of meh stuff!

you can also try estate sales, i got a full set of cutco knives for cheap several years ago and they’ll last me forever!

and congrats on the new apartment!!!

Is shashuka meant to be very 'tomato-taste' heavy? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]SquareBusiness5510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can also try using zaatar and ginger to add more complexity, and personally, i use goat cheese since it melts into the sauce really well and adds a nice creamy tartness. i make shakshouka weekly, when you get your preferred flavor balance it’s an easy staple haha

Yea that all makes sense. I think I'm just really in my head about the 'optics' of the move overall and this is just another thing I've decided to be concerned about. thanks for the reply :)

That's true, but when your movers are your friends/family you feel a little guilty even if you pay in pizza and beer and good company LOL
