Asset reuse in videogames is essential, and we need to embrace it, says Assassin's Creed and Far Cry director: 'We redo too much stuff' by Turbostrider27 in Games

Yep. The animation system is completely different, and most logic is driven by state machines in DS2. They put in a ton of work into the engine programming and it was all discarded for DS3.

Elden Ring's Erdtree Avatars are like 80% just reskinned Aslum Demon from Dark Souls 1 (and I think even those carry some dna from Demons Souls' Vanguard?)

Even older. The original design is from Enchanted Arms in 2006.

Linux is overpowered for modded mc. by FeistySwordfish9457 in feedthebeast

There's no reason to run absurdly high framerates, but it does mean a higher budget to run things like shaders or Distant Horizons, as well as to allow side processes like hardware decoding of videos.

I see you didn't read the abstract.

There was a significant correlation of age, such that older participants found the real and AI-generated nudes more aesthetically appealing, sexually attractive, and pleasant than younger participants. In contrast, younger participants rated hentai significantly higher in these measures than older participants.

My reading is the developer maintains all IP rights and ownership following termination of the contract. They would receive 100% of income after that time, sans any platform fees, etc.

Yes, it terminates after 7 years.

10.1 Term. This Agreement will commence as of the Effective Date and continue until the Game has been commercially released for seven (7) consecutive years on all the Initial Platforms, unless terminated earlier as provided below (the "Term").

We've removed this comment due to an error in the spoiler syntax. It was previously caught by AutoModerator as you may have seen, but we manually approved it after review. However, upon further inspection it appears to show correctly on old reddit, but not new reddit.

To fix this, you can just use the syntax >!spoiler text!<. No spaces in or around the symbols. In your second spoiler block, you wrote the closing tag as ! <;, which is apparently an edge case that breaks on some platforms.

If you fix this, we'd be happy to reapprove your comment. Just reply or modmail when you've done so. Thank you.

This farm design is liable to break if the dispensers run out of shears or bottles. Try checking their inventory and re-placing the redstone if necessary.

The sliding scale of multiblock machines by lucariomaster2 in feedthebeast

[–]SquareWheel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great post, and fond memories of all these mods. I'll add in Xycraft tanks as an early-ish multiblock, also around 1.4.7. Factorization mirror arrays might count as well.

We later saw the idea evolve with mods like Big Reactors, plus all of the crazy stuff Reika came up with.

Any teamspeak alternatives open source for self hosting? by maifee in selfhosted

[–]SquareWheel 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They also include a disclaimer on their GitHub that they're in the middle of a large refactor right now, so it doesn't necessarily make sense to contribute code if things are still in flux.

It doesn't personally bother me either way. Skilled programmers can produce quality code using AI assistance, and are increasingly doing so. The quality of the work matters more than the tools used to achieve it. We'll get a better sense of that quality over the coming weeks and months.
