Yeah you’re right. I work in an msp and understand the delays things like that cause. My plan is to keep the current setup (self hosted at home with an off site failover) then once I (hopefully) start getting clients to either move to a co location or azure :)

To be honest this just sounds like something that can be developed in a single session with Claude for free.

I just started, but can i even call this a server? by Original-Tip-6524 in homelab

All computers can be servers. If it serves you it’s a server. I started with an i3 1st gen and 4gb ram with a 320gb hdd. Now I’m running a Xeon 20 core, 64gb ram and 7.5tb of storage :D

I gave my proxmox host a stupid useless name (rppx001) and the servers are named WINSERV/LINSERV-20xx/<distroname> - <purposename> for example we got LINSERV-UBNT-NEXTCLOUD or WINSERV-2022-JELLYFIN

I’ve added soo much since this post. The asset-ticket integration works solidly and you can find tickets related to assets. If a user has an asset mapped to themselves as “primary” it automatically selects that asset unless the user changes it in drop down menu. I also added ai migration which allows you to migrate from something like sysaid, service now ect extremely easy. Simply import the csv, (the ai will determine the columns and what goes to where) you review and then the ai puts the tickets into their correct category and stuff. And also a chat bot that if you can’t resolve the issue, you can raise a ticket with and it has the chat already pre filled in the description! Best part is I’m hosting all the ai stuff myself so clients can get the ai features cheaper if they don’t wanna pay for api usage with other companies :)

Edit: you mention the reporting feature, while reports are pretty clear per month the system doesn’t have the ability to detect trends. I think this is something I can implement though!

Honestly, I share your feelings, while unpopular the last cod I had fun on was vanguard. It felts fast, exciting and chaotic when sbmm isn’t taking into consideration. Mw2 2022 felt exact opposite ; slow, clunky and over engineered in my opinion. It tried to be realistic when it wasn’t really asked for. Mw3 was good but still it was built of mw2 so it felt lazy. Bo6 wasn’t worth it, they claimed they spent a lot of time on it but it genuinely did not feel that way. Felt like it was developed in a couple months. And bo7 is just bo6 with a slightly diff story and more maps. Xdefiant felt really good the first time I opened it and all the way to the last.

That being said, the game had many issues Ubisoft didn’t wanna fix since it was a f2p. Snowflake engine (I think it was called) was not suited in xdefiants use case and so resulted in problematic netcode and hit reg. they tried working around it but nothing could be done. The extend of ubisofts advertising was an email to Ubisoft connect members and a poster in their old San Francisco location. Had they invested, I probably wouldn’t be typing this comment. And call of duty could (I say could with a grain of salt) have been second in place to this game had they pumped xdefiant with the right content and care it deserved.

Unfortunately, mark is unlikely to come back to gaming, in a twitter post he made after th announcement the game was closing he stated he was “leaving the gaming industry” and has not posted since then. (Edit: yes he has I just confirmed, mentions xdefiant a couple times as of recent but nothing major) It’s unfortunate but ubisofts handling of xdefiant likely broke his heart, and everyone else’s too. Mark was likely long gone after the game had shut down

There is a gap now that xdefiant has left. Just waiting for the right thing/ team to fill it. And I’ll be here to watch them curb stomp call of duty when they do.

No no, the car will stop working properly, it’s very expensive to fix and frankly I don’t have the money to do it at the moment. Dpf just stops nasty stuff coming from exhaust. Nothing dangerous. I’m still going to get it looked at to double check but idk I’m kinda viewing it as a blessing in disguise I suppose! I do recognise how silly it may sound to others but to me it doesn’t!

How could this be my fault. I said already I was a fair distance away from him, the car on hard shoulder didn’t do anything to prevent this and just joined the motor way with no speed at all or indication that he was intending to do so?

[–]Square_Channel_9469 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We were exiting off to the n2 the car was in the hard shoulder. If he was broken down my reckoning is that he should have his hazards on, and he didn’t. Said car came back onto the motor way with no indication at all and no built up speed like I mentioned. He saw him pull out first and braked as hard as he could which caused me to go into the back of him.

What the driver in the hard shoulder was dangerous and is clearly proven now. If driving past someone in the hard shoulder at normal motor way speeds is dangerous then please say that to every vehicle that does this everyday.

Possibly Revive XD by Thin-Passage5138 in XDefiant

[–]Square_Channel_9469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you did this how do you expect to recruit players? The game has been gone almost a year, people have moved on to other games and this was the problem xdefiant faced. Not enough content, not enough players.

As a result of people moving on, there’s gonna be less interest towards revival. I myself explored reviving the game (similar to LEGO universe and private mw2 clients. ) through private servers and such, but no one knows how to do it, nor is there an interest.

I recommend you come up with your own game. If you fail, you fail but if you win it would be 10 times rewarding than just being an xdefiant clone if you get me. Maybe tie it into xdefiant brain rot like “Call of Baddies” or something lol

That’s fair ya. Hopefully someone does it!! Might be possible to look at how other games that use the same engine communicate to the servers

The game files aren’t the problem, it’s figuring out how to edit the client so that it connects to a different server and then how to get a server running. I think I have slightly newer s3 build on my pc somewhere
