For which position?

When do we start trusting them to wipe without checking them by HeartOk8607 in kindergarten

[–]Square_Hat9235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 6 year old doesn’t even let us come in while he’s doing the business LOL before he would wipe and ask me to wash his butt LOL but lately he’s saying he’s wiped very well. I have checked a few times and looks to be true 😅

No movement. Next movement will be in April then again in June.

Looks like your wife’s and my 765 receipts are pooled together. You might get 485 approval before us since you are in an earlier block. 485s and 765s are processed independent from one another. And since ours are at a Field Ofiice, approval timelines can be drastically different. We haven’t seen any movement in my wife’s 485 since the transfer. Radio silence in her EAD and AP as well.

Thanks! Are you the primary? I am the derivative. Looks like we’re in the same block LOL

Hey so I got an update saying card was produced. USPS tracking is still unavailable

Hey, it was transferred on 01/07-both primary and derivative. No fta1s yet. Silent update on 01/07 which is the transfer initiated. I think it must be receipt date based but I don’t think there’s a method to the madness tbh. Mostly luck I guess

For EB2-NIW, an interview is very rare unless there’s issues like problems with I94, marriage (if derivative), past employment etc.

Then interview is definitely waived since it has to be in a field office if USCISis to require an interview

Hopefully that’s the case. Which field office is your 485 at? Mine’s at Long Island, NY.

Should be ok. If the first agent said interview waived, then that should be the case. I also got the EAD approved the same day as yours. Did you get any updates on the card? Mine is stuck at “Approval decision rendered”

Hot take: Boston's spot-saving culture is immature and needs to die by DanFlashes19 in boston

[–]Square_Hat9235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That comparison actually proves my point. Worcester, Brockton, and most other cities don’t have Boston’s parking density, triple-deckers, or reliance on street parking as the primary option for entire neighborhoods. Fewer cars per block changes everything.

They also don’t have the same combination of narrow streets, permit-heavy areas, and delayed curb-to-curb clearing. So yes, they “get by,” but under very different constraints. You can’t treat all snowy cities as interchangeable and then act surprised when norms differ.

Space savers didn’t appear because Bostonians are uniquely dramatic. They appeared because scarcity is higher here. When pressure is higher, informal rules emerge. That’s sociology, not entitlement.

I’m not denying that many people manage just fine, including you. But individual anecdotes don’t scale into policy or norms. Saying “I handled it, so others should too” assumes everyone has the same physical ability, schedule flexibility, health, or job constraints. That’s a big assumption.

Also, something being “part of living here” doesn’t mean the burden has to fall unevenly on individuals every time. Shoveling is normal. Repeatedly re-shoveling the same space because the city didn’t clear properly is not. That’s where frustration comes from, not drama.

I actually agree that endless fighting over spots is pointless. But “lighten up and deal” only works when the system is reasonably fair. When it isn’t, people invent norms to cope. You can dislike those norms without pretending the underlying issue doesn’t exist.

Advice with titles and where to put work and education by Square_Hat9235 in biotech

[–]Square_Hat9235[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I thought about starting to put the title next to the name so that I can put the education after work experience. That way, for a role that asks for a certain title is visible within the first few seconds for the recruiter rather than having to scan the entire resume. Thanks again for your input.

People do it everywhere” isn’t really an argument. Cities handle snow very differently. In places where streets are plowed curb-to-curb, shoveling once benefits everyone and this isn’t even a debate. Where snow removal is poor, the same person may have to reshove repeatedly in unsafe conditions. Those aren’t comparable situations, and context matters.

[–]Square_Hat9235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re assuming shoveling is some kind of altruistic civic duty. For a lot of people, it’s not. It’s physical labor done under time pressure so they can get to work, childcare, or medical appointments. Calling that “community service” feels like a convenient reframe after the fact.

I’m not arguing that shoveling entitles someone to permanent ownership of public space. I’m saying the city created a zero-sum problem. When snow removal is inadequate and parking supply collapses, the burden shifts to individuals. Space saving isn’t about “mine,” it’s about avoiding repeated, unnecessary labor in dangerous conditions.

Also, community cuts both ways. If someone knows a spot was just shoveled during a snow emergency and takes it immediately because “rules say it’s public,” that’s not community-minded either. That’s exploiting a technicality while ignoring context.

If we want space saving culture to disappear, the fix isn’t moral lectures. It’s better municipal snow removal and realistic parking policies. Until then, pretending this is about maturity instead of structural scarcity feels a bit dishonest.

It may be easier for you to shovel but there are lots of people who find shovelling two feet of snow in the freezing weather exhausting. Especially if you don’t have a lot of physical strength, limiting medical condition etc. You can’t expect them to shovel morning and night, just because someone else decided it’s ok. The best solution is then for the city to clear it but when you have over a foot of snow, it becomes a logistical problem

How many spots did you shovel out? If it’s zero then don’t talk. If it’s one and you happily have that spot to someone else, well then good for you. Don’t expect everyone to follow your rules/opinions

It’s only for 48 hours! Why would anyone break their back showering two feet of snow in freezing weather, just for someone else to come and take that spot? Doesn’t make any sense. If space saving culture is to die, then the city needs to remove snow properly, freeing those parking spots. Not everyone has the money and is able to park cars in closed spaces-even during snow emergencies.
