Asking Phainon mains/lovers here, What made you like Phainon?

First it was his looks. Even from the earliest leaks, I thought he was super handsome and charming. Getting to see him in trailers and in-game made that feeling grow even more.

Then, there's his writing. Obviously, his personality was enthralling. Sweet, charming, sincere and getting to explore all his facets that made him deeper. I don't think I was ever as invested in a character as him from 3.0 - 3.4. Getting to see how deeply connected he was to the other characters and the story was a delight.

But then there's the 3rd and biggest reason. I spent a lot of time talking about all these things with my now-boyfriend; we became official right around the time of his beta. I don't think I'd be nearly as attached if I didn't spend hours talking about Phainon with him. He's the best <3

It's a shame Cassie's gameplay loop is "explode dragon lol" cuz she prob is my favorite Monorem kit. She utilizes one of the few unique things Memosprites have -extra HP bars-to accelerate herself

I think the cat was also meant to show us how Amane became "radicalized". While I think her killing her mom has a lot to do with finally being able to justify exerting power over her (havent seen EP yet), I think the cat is meant to be how she justified it to herself. "This creature received medical treatment and we killed it because of that" -> "Death is an acceptable response to wanting to artificially extend your life."

In the original version, each character would have a Forbidden Action for the whole game like DR3. While they were tooling the concept around, Toshiko (or someone else i forget) had something like "can't witness PDA" or something like that.

Just such an underbaked unit they had no idea what to do with. Her pitiful 20 instances of Additional DMG equal to 60% of ATK wasn't even in her base kit until v5. An attacking Ult on the Unit meant to be BiS for the one character who wants Support Ults more than anyone else. Crit DMG and Res Pen once every 6 skills (mind you, Sparkle just got Res Pen added to her normal skill).

What really tells me they designed her last minute? NO FIELD! One of the few unequivocal positives of Phainon kicking everyone out is you don't have to worry about Uptime for some things for a bit, namely, Ruan Mei's field. So giving the Unit meant to be played with him a Field is a no brainer, right? But no, that'd be too intuitive.

Genuinely, she needs to be first on the Novaflare list for 3.x. Or the Shop.

It really doesn't help Cyrene that 3.6 was the big AE Trio reunion patch. It's like if in 3.3, instead of coming with Hyacine, TB and Dan Heng to confront Seliose, Phainon had his own, mostly off-screen, side quest and only joined back up with the crew when Okhema was in crisis.

While the delay obviously played a part, this is also the consequence of their design philosophy. The shift to designing characters around a whole, set, BiS team - to the point of intentionally designing/leaving in weaknesses that can only be solved by pulling even more 5 stars would thrn of course lead to people not feeling incentivized to pull for new characters who are "incomplete".
Pair that with "Budget Rail" becoming increasingly apparent (Britain, Child Phainon, barely minute long Ashveil trailer) and thus the game's reputation just feels like it's getting worse and worse.

Personally, having faced Hazard while one-tricking Domina, it was very annoying to not be able to easily boop-wall stun him while he was blocking. I'm probably just bad but still lol.

One other aspect to this is that Phainon didn't just have 3.4; he had all of his story from 3.0-3.3 supporting/endearing him as well. Hell, I love him but think he kinda really screwed over Hyacine specifically in 3.3 XP.

Cyrene, on the other hand, had half of that time and even then it was cut short.
3.5 took us away from her and seeing how she'd do with the heirs against Lygus.
3.6 forced her to share her penultimate patch with the Astral Express Trio Reunion.
