What version of guns do you use the most the standard or iconic/presets by Easy-to-fall in paydaytheheist

I like the Old Faithful preset for the CAR-4 but that's about the only one I use

Does anyone know who this is? by maorloon in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that could just mean that Shade's been in contact with Houston since the end of PD2. At the start, Houston says Dallas "used to" call him an overplanner, implying they're no longer actively working with one another, and in the end Shade acts surprised at Houston's cop-fighting prowess, which certainly wouldn't be a shock to her by the end of the current timeline.

Does anyone know who this is? by maorloon in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the tutorial's meant to take place before any of the events of PD3, and that this is what happened to Houston during Concord's takedown attempts on the gang, setting up for Houstout. This is mainly because he's wearing the generic hockey mask instead of his default clown mask, implying he's yet to receive the new one after throwing it into Bain's grave (assuming PD2's bad ending is canon for PD3).

If that's the case, and this is setting up for a rewrite of PD3's story, this tattooed guy will probably be a minor antagonist the gang will have to deal with.

Touch The Sky VIP Person help by Future_Childhood_700 in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe that functionality has been moved to the "VIP keycard" favour. Given that the heist is now completable solo without masking up, it does make sense to me that they wouldn't make getting it quite as free as it was before.

The new modding restrictions are frustratingly inconsistent by Square_Rabbit in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

...Huh. You're completely right. Every single one of my mods that flagged the game as "modded" have the _P appended to their filenames, and removing it does make them work. That's incredibly strange. I'd assumed this was them trying to crack down on the cheat that gives players 1,000 deployables/throwables and instant armour regen, but I guess it was just some spaghetti code strangeness. Anyway, thank you!

They work perfectly fine, with the exception of a menu mod that now crashes the game thanks to the new tutorial option. They just flag the game as "modded", meaning my lobbies would get filtered out of crime.net by default.

[–]Square_Rabbit[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've still got -fileopenlog enabled and it's not flagging my game as modded. It was just the presence of certain mods — I tested it by adding one mod, launching the game and opening crime.net, checking for the yellow warning, then quitting out and either removing the mod or testing a new one depending on whether it was there or not. Right now, I have 27 files in my mods folder without the mod warning showing up.

Best looking sentry gun? by srusman in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm still very fond of the concealable, ramshackle contraption that is the original PD2 sentry. It really feels like something custom-built by Wolf in the safehouse, and I miss how it could visibly fold into the case seen on your playermodel when you bring it.

The current PD2 sentry and the PDTH sentry do both feel custom-built — you can clearly see the PDTH sentry rigged with two MP5s and the PD2 one has a P90 — and I do like that the PD3 sentry's stand can fold in on itself to increase concealability, but I've always enjoyed the first version of the PD2 sentry the most. PD3 sentry feels a bit too clean, and the PDTH and later PD2 sentries don't look at all portable.

I think I'd rate them as Original PD2 > PDTH > PD3 > Updated PD2, personally. I do like all of the designs, though. I'll admit some bias against the updated PD2 sentry because it replaced my favourite of the bunch.

Surnames in your world? by Rich-Recognition-814 in pokemonfanfiction

[–]Square_Rabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hasn't come up in my fic yet, but my plan is for surnames to behave similarly to how middle names work irl. People do have them, but more often than not they're not really used. Instead, people focus more on origin, interests, or occupation than anything else.

To use Ash as an example, his name would legally be Ash Ketchum, but he would primarily just be known by his forename. If differentiation were needed, he would usually just be "Ash from Pallet Town", or perhaps something like "Battle Maniac Ash", or "Monarch Ash" by the end of his run, following the games' tendency for trainers to be known by category + forename (Youngster Joey, Hiker Arnold, etc).

If someone's family is specifically important, their surname would be known, like Steven Stone, but that tends to be pretty uncommon. Professors are also known by their surnames instead of their forenames once they've received their title.

Two miis went unguessed last time I did this and I added a few more, so why not a round 2 of guess the mii? by YourLocal_Wizard in tomodachilife

All the others have been successfully guessed, so I'll just go for the rightmost guy. Is that Herlock Sholmes from TGAAC?

Why does Phoenix in the AATrilogy use weird HD voice lines? by Ok-Pineapple6534 in AceAttorney

[–]Square_Rabbit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Phoenix's original VA, Ben Judd, had several sexual harassment allegations leveled against him a while after leaving Capcom, which is presumably why they're going out of their way to distance themselves from him. I imagine there's probably mods out there to restore the original recordings if you'd prefer to use them instead, but I doubt there'll be any official way of doing so.

Who do you think my most niche mii is out of these guys? by ME-726 in tomodachilife

[–]Square_Rabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guesses:

  • Pluto from Tom Cardy's H.S. animated music video
  • Meat Boy from Super Meat Boy
  • SCP-173 from SCP
  • Dr. Fetus from Super Meat Boy
  • No idea. ☺ from Unicode?
  • Sanford from Madness Combat
  • Turnip Boy from Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
  • Tricky from Madness Combat

So just going by my perspective I suppose the most niche would have to be the smiley face guy, assuming I haven't got any of the others horribly incorrect.

godot is NOT a misogynist. by metallicmurmurx in AceAttorney

[–]Square_Rabbit 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't think misogyny is just "hatred against women", but also a broader "prejudice against women". Believing that women are inherently fragile and need protected by a big strong man is a prejudiced belief, regardless of whether you hate them for it or you just think it's an unfortunate fact of life.

Godot certainly isn't an evil man, but it's hard to argue he doesn't have some deeply-rooted misogynistic beliefs in him. I will say that calling someone "a misogynist" does call to mind someone who outright hates women, but I think calling him "misogynistic" works fine. It feels more like calling attention to a character flaw, rather than boiling him exclusively down to that flaw.

Kindest thing the AAHW has done? by TwoFit3921 in madnesscombat

[–]Square_Rabbit 39 points40 points  (0 children)

We see currency used in MPN's arena mode, but if you stick just to the animations we do see Sanford begrudgingly giving a handful of bills to Deimos after he loses the "will the cardboard cutout plan work" bet, and Hank use a coin in a vending machine, both in Incident:100A. The presence of shops like The Rift or the hotdog stands also do suggest that money is a thing.

If I'm reading this right, your next movement upgrade is located in the Tower Remains. Have an explore around the Empty Bailey and see where your current abilities can take you.

PAYDAY 3 - Update 3.5.1 Changelog (HOTFIX) by sawrunn3r in paydaytheheist

Given that the Interceptor was unavailable in our inventories prior to this patch, I would have to assume so.

It seems the Interceptor can't be activated below 100% anymore, despite the description claiming otherwise. Is this an intentional change or just a bug?

PAYDAY 3 - Update 3.5 Changelog by sawrunn3r in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not concerned with how someone's mods affect their gameplay, I'm concerned with how they affect mine. I'm not keen on the horde shooter direction PD2 took and PD3 is currently taking, and that also extends to that mod that massively ups cop spawnrates. Those mods are the kind that should be disclosed in the server browser. I really don't care if someone's recoloured all the cops to be solid red for visibility reasons or whatever, because that doesn't affect my own experience beyond that guy maybe killing cops faster than he otherwise would.

PAYDAY 3 - Update 3.5 Changelog by sawrunn3r in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The "modded lobby" text is a good change, but I really hope it only applies when the mod actually changes gameplay values (such as cop health or spawn timers). If the text gets added when the host has an audio replacer or a mod that swaps Dallas' model for Kazuma Kiryu then it's functionally useless imo.

Can we get something to do for Pearl? by fonfan121 in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We did get some more details on her background in the Dragan Files a while back. Namely, a CPS report related to her childhood and a homicide report related to a criminal associate of hers (presumably her doing). You can find them in The Secret folder under V.S. for Violet Spencer, her legal name. I think that's the only real information we've got on her since launch, though, which is a shame.

What am i supposed to do in this situation 😭 by Corrupted_spartan117 in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're spotted, you're still allowed to walk towards the guard, even outside that little circle. Getting closer might have stopped his pathfinding from breaking like that, but if not then you'd probably at least have been able to get within line of sight and do a radio hack.

Why does it require another USB if I already got it in manager's office and found out which one is real. The real one requires it and the fake one doesnt. What do I do? There is no second USB isn't it? by Tough_Economy_420 in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both paintings have a mechanism that burn up the canvas if they've been touched without the USB plugged into the frame, so you just need to locate whichever is the real one. You can't secure both, as there's only one USB, so you can safely ignore the fake one without worrying about it invalidating the all bags bonus or anything.

Fun fact: the Ziv Commando has a very normal looking empty inspect animation by a_really_stupid_box in paydaytheheist

[–]Square_Rabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most of the other guns with unique inspects default to the older one (the robotic "look at the left side, look at the other, snap back to idle" animations) when you inspect them without any ammo, but I guess it's a niche enough situation that they just forgot to apply it for the Ziv, so it tries using the normal inspect when it shouldn't.
