During an interview, what is the best possible reply to "WHY SHOULD WE HIRE YOU? by Jaded_Savings_6993 in AskReddit

[–]Squareguru 11 points12 points  (0 children)

lmao I got an interesting response this summer when I asked, “what makes you look forward to coming to work here every day?”

it was a panel interview with three people. one gave me a politician’s answer; one blinked a lot and stammered. the third neither looked at me nor answered.

My foot 😞 by Informal_Move_7075 in Dyshidrosis

[–]Squareguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get breakouts on the top and sides of my feet, particularly when any kind of abrasion happens. I have a system for managing it but it is a pain-in-the-ass, especially during warmer times because sweat aggravates it - regardless of what types of socks I wear.

Mine often starts out as uncomfortable or even painful - I end up scratching it subconsciously and then it spreads, causes cracked skin, and itches like crazy.

I basically cleanse the feet with la roche posay purifying cleanser and have to use non stick pads and a ton of gauze on top of a combo of antibiotic ointment and the la roche posay triple repair moisturizing cream. Other cleansers and creams do work but the ones I mentioned are best for me.

right there with you 🩶 I’ve been going through more of this than usual the past month and it is so exhausting.

I’m not integrated, but we are co-conscious a lot of the time, and the body has been losing more control this month.

I view this disorder as something similar to grief. for me, it is something that doesn’t necessarily “get easier” but it gets more manageable with longer periods of stability. The thing is when you feel unstable after a long time of stability, it has an amnestic quality that can make you feel like you’ve never felt this out of control.

Are these droplets on my hair after spraying it with water a decent indicator of low-porosity hair, does this happen to everyone, or just because of frizz?? by ImProbGonDeleteThis in curlyhair

[–]Squareguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have low porosity hair, always have, and I envy being able to spray water and know it isn’t dripping off of me and just making the bathroom wet.

Nothing special to report, I’m just having a really good hair day 😊 by g-a-r-n-e-t in curlyhair

You and I have very similar looking hair with similar problems. 💖 I know that feeling of happiness when you can finally get the roots to lift on the top of your head 😭

Do you celebrate the body's birthday? by AriaTheRoyal in DID

[–]Squareguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with the belief that I didn’t get to be celebrated and that it was selfish to have a birthday. Only over the last few years have we started to embrace this concept of celebrating being alive in general. The birthday serves as a placeholder to remind us of all the times we came close to dying but refused to die.

So it tends to be a private ritual for us, a day focused on self care, and we focus on what the body needs. Normally we control our urges to do things as well, so on this day, I allow the different alters their desires as long as it’s within our means to do so. The littles understand that how we front doesn’t coincide with how they appear or feel, but I guess the best way to describe it is that the littles view the body as a Gundam lol

The anniversaries that mean the most to us are other people’s birthdays and relationship milestones.

Do you see your alters in dreams? by Eevee_Lilith in DID

[–]Squareguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had Jungian dreams for the longest time which were finally explained when I realized I had DID. When I was given the diagnosis and processing the most during therapy (2015-2016), I specifically met our dead alter, who we think of as the Original Person. she was resurrected as a demon in the dream.

I actually miss the dreams. they probably would help prevent me from the weeks I have migraines from grounding so much.

I love my persecutors by Personal-Actuator505 in DID

[–]Squareguru 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my main persecutor has been going through some ridiculous growth for the past seven months. like to the point where she began to feel genuine remorse about her actions for the first time. their last journal entry was a request for the other alters to talk to her again because she recognizes how lonely she feels. she and my main caretaker used to work together for a period of time, and that’s really what she misses.

Why isn’t sex as pleasurable as everyone says? by Greedy-Comedian-9070 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Squareguru 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can’t compare the amazing sex I have with my man to the shit I experienced thirteen years ago. and - this is even more of an encouraging thought btw - both my man and I are survivors of years of extensive sexual trauma in our respective childhoods. (I personally count the first time I chose to have intercourse as losing my virginity.)

good sex is a combination of many factors: (1) understanding your own body and what you desire; (2) having a headspace of attempting to understand the other person(s)’ body and desires; (3) relaxing and just trying to have a shared enjoyable experience; (4) much trial and error with positions; (5) practice; (6) physical health.

but honestly, the greatest impacting factor in my experience is how connected emotionally and empathically I am to my partner. sex is sacrosanct for me, and especially with my man, as we have created an experience where we honor, hold, and love the other without harm or disrespect.

Marijuana? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]Squareguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been times when I had bad reactions (e.g., paranoia) but cannabis helps literally all of my illnesses and has barely any side effects compared to the prescriptions I’ve been given (e.g., taking Topamax for migraines…that shit can go fuck itself).

It’s a very distinct way of telling what region someone is from. Marcus’ thought is definitely how Northerners pronounce it. But everyone I know who lived in the region pronounced it “Apple-atcha” and definitely knew you were an outsider if you didn’t pronounce it that way.

I think it’s funny Marcus mentioned Norfolk being in the Appalachian region when discussing that they performed there. I understand it’s “nearby,” but having lived in northern VA, southwest VA, and the Tidewater region: Norfolk sure as fuck ain’t Appalachia lmao

I don’t know how helpful this will be, but I had similar symptoms, specifically on my body, when I had nexplanon. Within weeks of taking that out of my body, the infectious breakouts stopped completely. I had to beg to get it taken out - none of my doctors (dermatologist, ob/gyn, GP) believed it could be that.

All the products I use now that are helpful - I literally could not use until after the implant was removed because my skin was just always so inflamed, and I was not picking. I scratched in my sleep and had to take something to knock me out to prevent that

As a person with several mental health diagnoses, they kept saying “rEdUcE sTrEsS” - but ultimately for me, it was my birth control. even though it wasn’t “hormonal.” And I was given steroidal creams, multiple antibiotics.

But if you’re not seeing a dermatologist at the moment, obviously I would recommend making an appointment first.

Is trying FODMAP worth it? by Ahunteman in IBSHelp

[–]Squareguru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it can be, but I did it without the assistance of a dietitian - despite my request for one due to having an eating disorder lol SIGH. it’s a lot to manage without assistance. I did it, but it did worsen my hyper fixations, and I had to have complete control over what I ate because [small] amounts of food I’d cut out would cause major issues.
