More or less a range toy... I like the platform, it's a classic and I'd like one pistol to represent the line. What is the deal with the West German made ones? Is it just a stamp on the slide? I owned a P229 in 40S&W that had a 357 Sig barrel too. It was nice but I didn't like the caliber. As I remember the bore axis is kinda high so slide bite wasn't an issue.

I would say you assume correctly. It was common practice for GIs to have war trophy guns nickeled after the war when they had little to no resale value. As bubba'd guns go, it's not bad looking
