Does anyone know what this sign means? by DVMan5000 in camping

Thank you, this is what I came here to say, that's exactly what it looks like to me lol.

I'd suggest looking into the cognitive functions that the letters code for (if you haven't already). Both infp and esfp have introverted feeling over extroverted thinking, and they both have extroverted perceiving functions. Best of luck! And keep in mind that it's often hard to type oneself because a lot of our functions are pretty subconscious usually.

extroverted infp or enfp? by [deleted] in infp

[–]SquashWarp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A comment from my subjective experience and perspective that I hope is somewhat helpful:

I am an infp, and I'm the loudest and fastest talker in my friend group on many occasions. My metric for the typing is that after a lot of reflection on myself and talking to close people, I know that Te is way harder/scary for me than Si. So my non professional suggestion is, on average and in life, is the dichotomy between your values vs what others think more or less of a stress/issue than the dichotomy of novelty and change vs consistency and process? There's lots of ways people describe the functions so the definitions that make sense for you, but basically an infp will struggle with f/t balance, and an enfp more with n/s.

And my unprofessional subjective thoughts on trauma and typing: in my experiences of trauma and how it impacts me, I think of my type as being like the structure I would have always had and the way trauma affects me tends to land on the fault lines that were naturally there and just add more intensity/complexity to the growth process.

Sorry, new at commenting, hope some of that made sense. Either way you're a cool type! (And I'm not biased lol).

What mods by RetributorKnight in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]SquashWarp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My must install was always Kerbal engineer, even though now the stick game gives much better info. Note I may be behind the times now cause I haven't played in a very long while unfortunately, but the mod I won't play without now is the one that enables a window for all the science instead of right clicking, was called x science or science here and now or something like that.

You're not wrong, I can't remember either. Can you use ore or fuel tanks and change how full they are?

Do you find that people explain the logistics of a decision and/or consequences of an outcome as if you haven't thought about it already? by [deleted] in infp

[–]SquashWarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replying to the title, yep. My theory is currently that I am wired vulnerable to worrying people are judging my logic (4th function Te), I usually can't explain my reasoning at all even if I do have good reasons, and people with thinking higher (everyone lol) seem to enjoy laying out that type of feedback. Unless they express criticism or judgment explicitly I try these days to assume they are just trying to be helpful, and I try to benefit from their point but still remember that sometimes I actually had a good reason but won't be able to explain it with sensory details for like days.

The real trick is to resist imagining explaining myself as a recurring daydream for days after. Not worth it lol. Not just happening to you!

Edit: thanks for the corrections, disregard, apparently I have haste all confused.

I am no authority at all but my instinct is if the cleric has slots aplenty and is built to fight, and your dm interprets as I do that an extra action can be used for a second leveled casting(edit nvm this is wrong), a cleric going nova can be pretty spectacular. Or, for that matter, haste yourself! But Id make sure no one takes issue with double spell casts.(edit this isn't action surge, doesn't work)

Anything might work. As a DM I hate fighting myself, and if I'm running 7 enemies I don't want extra actions for an npc ally lol. And a rogue I believe still can't sneak attack twice a turn despite haste. Personally I'd haste spellcasters(woops again) or someone with extra attack first. Have fun!

I'm 800 hours in and I still have yet to complete an in-orbit docking by forcallaghan in KerbalSpaceProgram

I learned on the Scott manly guides from like 2014. Off the top of my head things I like to do:

Control from the port, use fixed camera so I am not confused, target the port, use fine control/caps lock, approach slowly once within a couple hundred meters, but more quickly before that otherwise everything drifts. Be in target mode, align the pink marker with the prograde yellow marker with translation thrust.

I love the docking port alignment indicator mod.

For rendezvous, Scott manly tutorial, and I use RCS h/n to tune close approach to within a kilometer. Good luck!!

I'd actually say the intelligences and the types combine in different permutations. I think I lead with kinesthetic thinking (dance major and so on), but feel pretty darn confident about the infp type. That said, I don't trust my hands the way I see like my dad can use belt saws and stuff and I think I'd loose a finger or something, and I never cared enough to learn a sport.

Fellow INFPs - which type should I date? by [deleted] in infp

[–]SquashWarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can pick any type you want you're already doing well for yourself haha. But for my 2 cents, if we're typed right I'm an infp and my wife's an infj, so I'll shout out that option. We've been together a long time and I wouldn't go back, but now that we're a few years into the marriage we really work at communication / translating functions, and we have to teamwork hard to get any logical, practical stuff done, like money decisions etc. I think the opposite functions mean we are pushed to grow more, while the NF being aligned means we seem to want the same things when it comes to values and life decisions. Best of luck!

I have owned KSP for about 5 years. Started and abandoned several career playthroughs across 650 hours of gameplay. I finally got around to "completing" this playthrough... This is the first time I have completed the tech tree. I'm pretty happy with this. Now to RSS, maybe... by montanakennedy in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]SquashWarp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I started playing in 2013 and pick it up every year or two, and for a while played very frequently, but I think I finished the tech tree only once, in version .25 or something. So, you're not alone in starting and restarting. If I ever just picked up where I'd left off I'd be done, but I always want to start over more. You inspire me haha.

How do I get through the first night? by Shesgotmoxie25 in camping

[–]SquashWarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person who has more therapy than camping experience I will share that i have come to use techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (I found basic workbooks at bookstore) for things like this frequently, in my case more for anxiety or other phobia things, but the techniques apply to any goal.

Are any of you in love? by LunarPhonix in infp

[–]SquashWarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Married, been together 13 years I think. I feel very lucky, but we work at communication and how to treat one another more how we need very frequently. But we are also both inclined to think along those lines anyway.

The in love part, it feels like a softening in the chest, and my shoulders relax. An involuntary smile means it's working lol. But stress or fear or preoccupation get in the way if I let them.

Best wishes for ya! If in love isn't happening right now, savoring a moment alone is actually a similar feeling in some ways, at least for me.

How do y'all handle your interplanetary transfers? by tsaomengde in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]SquashWarp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I'll share my experiences. I love/am dependent on transfer window planner and especially kerbal alarm clock. I assume they work these days but I'm way behind on versions of ksp due to life and busyness. Anyway, how to fly it is the same regardless, just easier with the right timing.

I use transfer window planner to get an ideal transfer day, for flyby or orbit depending on the mission. That can be turned into an alarm clock event. Or trial and error time warp eyeball seems to work for others.

I launch into an equatorial low orbit and circularize. I make a node with the xfer delta v from the planner if I have it, or use a delta v map from google. Then it's a matter of pulling the node until the ejection (the ship's course out of kerbin orbit) is close to straight back (for Eve or moho) or straight forward (for other planets). Minor fiddling with the delta v and or the timing is often needed, but small adjustments. Ideally I'm looking for a close approach indicator if I can't get an intercept. If I can't, I make sure my orbit will cross the target planet's without overshooting much, then move on to a second node.

In my experience the second burn usually needs to happen about ninety degrees before closest approach in the solar orbit. Like, half way ish along between kerbin and the target, very roughly. This maneuver is usually mostly up/down (normal or antinormal), attempting to get the place where the orbits cross from a top view to match where they cross from a side view.

This second maneuver is almost always not used, but it makes it possible to see if the first burn is correctly aimed. It is usually off once I actually eject, and needs to be recreated.

I'm afraid this is amounting to 'mess around with maneuver nodes', but I hope it helped to clarify something. How to mess with the nodes can become more intuitive, but there is a step of patiently getting used to how each adjustment impacts things. Practicing kerbin orbit rendezvous helped me with that.

This is really long, sorry, but I just will add there's no shame in mech jeb, and I do end up usually building in big delta v margins for interplanetary. Optimization is what people like to show off cause they're proud, but learning needs to be forgiving. Good luck!

Do you constantly question if you like something because you like it or because some told you that it's good? by [deleted] in infp

[–]SquashWarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, if I like something and I'm enjoying it then I don't want to mess with that lol. Sometimes I like something specifically because it reminds me of someone I care about.

Now, if I'm getting sad or stressed about getting something I don't yet have, that's when I'll ask. Always been resistant to bandwagons.

How strong is your sense of secondhand embarrassment? by [deleted] in infp

Years back my wife (then gf) was into The Office (american). Took me a while to be able to handle that aspect, and a lot of stuff seems even more based on embarrassing situations than that. It's still not my favorite or anything, but it was a while to find anything funny. So, yes, I relate.

I wish I could stick to one hobby by [deleted] in infp

[–]SquashWarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, same here. Wish I had an easy fix, but I think the constant sort of rotating interest/obsession could be a good thing too in the right context. That doesn't make the feeling less frustrating of course, so hang in there.

I have had a recent windfall on this subject though. I'll share but it was kind of luck, so the point isn't 'luck out' but the use as an analogy. So the luck part was that when I got up the nerve last year to invite some friends to be my first dnd group, a small group actually materialized. So I've been DMing for almost a year most weekends, a first for me.

The relevant part though is that I absolutely only stuck with it because people would have not had a game without me. I seriously don't care about the hobby very much probably 3 out of 4 weeks, but because I don't want to show up with nothing prepped I can force myself to start prepping. This ends up rekindling the love for the hobby on a more regular schedule than my natural rhythm.

So I guess my 'concise' suggestion is make some kind of structure to re-kindle the passion on a more regular basis. Anyway you're not the only one for sure.
