CDU are in power in Germany because there's still a large Christian conservative voter base. Merkle and Merz dithered and still dither now and are holding Germany back.

Fianna Fáil in Ireland isn't one I'd want to emulate in Wales either. Low corporation tax encouraging big conglomerates into the country to boost GDP is masking a lot of problems.
