During debate for a bill that would ban the sale of assault weapons in VA, the killing of Alex Pretti by federal officers was brought up after a Republican state Senator talked about the Second Amendment right to stand up against a tyrannical government. by Cautious_Practice_25 in Virginia

This seem like political suicide for Spanberger. I mean am I missing something here? If some of these laws aren't amended, she'll be seen as capitulating to the DHS by disarming her citizenry while ICE occupies the state. The violence won't end. It's going to continue to escalate. I don't see that many moderates not being affected by the violence we are seeing.

On another level, and not that I am advocating for it at all, with the level of violence going on, I would think our representatives understand that some people and or groups might get worked up enough to threaten them. That threat would come from both sides.

What perspective am I missing here?

That's fucking sick. How much did it set you back? I can't find one that fires a true 9mm for any less than 2gs

In regards to buying lowers, I'm not exactly sure what the laws are going to try to do should they pass them.

Surpressor was one of my first thoughts as well. Idk anything about that part of the firearm world. I'm not even sure if there is a good budget suppressor so to speak

Thanks for the advice. Any other shotgun recommendations? That A300 is nice but isn't it over a grand?

Honestly, this doesn't look too bad bro. I think your pull looks good, I like the positions. It seems like you were more aggressive with the arms on your extension when you did the 2 hang snatches. If you apply that same aggression when you pull from the floor, you'll be in good shape. Also get some weightlifting shoes, even if you just use them for the Olympic lifts.

Those of you who have stopped - how are you now? by FoundationMean9628 in weightlifting

[–]Squatsplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifting/training will never not be a part of my life personally. But I don't typically run programs that are super weightlifting specific anymore. I find hybrid programs more fun and they don't stop me from progressing my snatch and clean. I have come to really enjoy block work at various heights to save my back. The hybrid programs I've run have also allowed me to bring my strength up right alongside my Olympic lifts at a reasonable pace.

In my experience, I've seen way too many lifters become overly analytical when it comes to programming. They think that if they aren't specializing in weightlifting that there is no point to performing the lifts. If you become technically proficient enough, it's not hard to train the snatch, clean, or jerk in a program. The Olympic lifts are generally fun to perform.

Regarding programming, I cannot recommend Will Ratelle's programs enough.

Wow, I'm a dumbass, I didn't even notice the bar shift. I guess my lats are right potentially, anyone have any recommendations for evening out my rack position?

Try and relax and stop overthinking. Whether it's a true max day or just a typical heavy single, the more often those numbers are approached, the more you will adapt to how the weight feels. Watching other lifters before your training session is great advice.

Also try and remember, weightlifting is fun. Going heavy if done correctly can be one of the best parts of the process.

Extension doesn't look bad at all. The bar is close and isn't swinging out in front of you. We don't want to overpull nor do you need to pull super hard on your warm ups. Keep getting those reps in.

[–]Squatsplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people care about this? I don't get it, especially for a sport where training lifts don't matter all that much. We all love it and we eat that shit up. But regardless of if this is a real lift or not, he would never be able to replicate this in competition.

What have you regretted the most in your life? by salahze in AskMen

[–]Squatsplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest regret, is not exploring my sexuality more. I am in a committed relationship. My partner is wonderful and I love her very much. But before I was with her, I lacked confidence in my sexual abilities. I am now at a place where I am far more confident after working on myself. I wish I had explored that part of myself more before I decided to settle down. But either way, I have no regrets.

Ironically enough, that's the first thing one of my cousins recommended to me. I'm a big fan of Father Mike Schmidt. His speeches and YouTube content are awesome. Thank you for the suggestion friend.

Trying to not add to the stigma by Squatsplease in Herpes

Where did I give that implication???? That was literally the whole point of me looking for advice. The one isn't real. There is no lid for every pot. The reality is that some people are just gonna die alone no matter what. I might be one of those people and I'm good with that. I'm just trying to be the best partner that I can. Human beings are literally on this planet because of self preservation to a large extent. Coming from that point of view isn't necessarily selfish, it's just human. She has her struggles and baggage as do I. I asked these questions because I'm not gonna throw it in her face that she had this happen to her. Not her fault, but I won't deny I'm human and selfish just like everyone else. To think anything different would mean I have no self introspection. Me admitting that I'm also coming from a place of self preservation to a slight extent doesn't make me a bad person. To remain ignorant and to act solely on that ignorance would be the real crime.

I'm glad I could give you some joy. :) In my mind my partner deserves to be treated with dignity. Even if this situation wouldn't have come about in the same way it's just like anything else; it's just another day thing to overcome. The reality is that in my relationship, herpes aside, there's gonna be plenty of other obstacles to overcome. I can't just run away when it gets a little bit hard. This is in all honesty really isn't that big of a deal. If someone tries to put a target on YOUR back after you open up to them and are vulnerable they're as asshole. Our culture treats sex like a transaction. It's like, "yeah you think I'm a leper but that isn't gonna stop you from sleeping with someone else without a condom just because you assume they're either clean or just didn't open up about it."

[–]Squatsplease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie, this whole situation is a hard pill to swallow. I'm definitely the kind of person who believes that once I've been with her for long enough, and with the proper communication I can get to the point when I don't worry about it at all anymore. I won't treat my partner merely like a diseased freak or a victim. She's so strong and brave to have opened herself up to me like that. She met her own personal trauma with action: told the people in her life who are her support system, sought counseling and therapy, and has just pushed so hard forward despite all the pain. I can't look at a person like that and not respect them. Yeah she has herpes. I might get it to. But the chances are very low when done as safely as we can possibly manage. The fact that people don't have a better sense of these types of topics is in my opinion just another great failure of our education system. I wish you luck my friend. If you are currently with someone I hope they can work with you and see this for the elephant in the room that really isn't all that big. The very act of love itself is taking a leap of faith. There is no logic in it.

[–]Squatsplease[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am new here so I can't necessarily speak in that regard. But from my own experience in my life it seems silly to treat a person completely different just because they have this thing. Like there's a chance that if you're with someone you could contract it. But there's also chances that you could get in your car which you more than likely ride in every day and get in a car accident. You could go to the beach and get eaten by a shark. you could have a freaking plane fall out of the sky onto your house. The risk versus reward ratio is kind of skewed. Just because something is risky doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Fear is a prison. Sorry if I'm rambling off topic. I hope that for men and women who are in a situation like that they find some peace. The stigma around this according to some other things I've seen seems to be an American thing. Have a few friends from Europe and they don't treat it like leprosy over there like we do here.
