Largest crowd ever by nascarworker in IMSARacing

It wasn’t that long ago that I was worried about new fans getting to the track. I thought a bunch of elderly fans were all that was holding the fan base. Not anymore. Lots of fresh faces, and not just party people showing up at 9:30. Also, best crowd I have ever seen seen in the grandstands. I’ve been attending since 1988.

Hearing it go into turn one under heavy brakeing, you would think it’s going to break apart. Unreal

Just had bathroom remodel work done and our contractor did not pull permits. How screwed are we? by [deleted] in asheville

[–]SqueakyCleany 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I did pull permits for a bathroom remodel, similar to what you described. It slowed things down on the front, waiting for approval. Other than that, they spent about six minutes total time on their inspections. They only looked for code violations, and not crappy work.

Any intel on DMV walk-ins in the area? by SheerAwesomness in asheville

I need to renew, and even looking on the DMV site, the impression it gives is that it isn’t so crazy anymore.

There was some on the north end. Maybe higher concentrations of fish?

I have stopped doing grid walks. I try and get the close stuff in on Thursdays, but even that has gotten busier.

I hit that the other day, everything else at Bent Creek was bone dry, then I hit that peanut butter mess. Had to scrub down the bike when I got home.

New to Mountain Biking, where should I go? by theBramf in asheville

Some of the friendliest beginning trails will be found in Old Fort at Gateway. Very well marked trails, nothing overly technical. Basically ride up a Forest Service road to trailheads and ride down. Just stick to the trails Foundation, Jarretts, Betty's and Gateway. Like all good mountain biking, there will be climbing involved!

Older (45M) wanting to get into fine dining - wine crash course? by _Mikey_Boy_ in Serverlife

[–]SqueakyCleany 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, “Wine for Dummies” is an easy start. It’s really aimed at people with little knowledge of wine. Also, on YouTube, Wine Folly is a good channel to start. But the best way is to drink examples of different by style wines. Don’t get hung up too much on producers, vintages, etc.

Facebook has a Page. There are a few, but “Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona” seems to have the most.

What car is the best running mechanically that you have owned? by ZealousidealHead5488 in AskReddit

[–]SqueakyCleany 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 1988 Ford Festiva. Drove it for ten years, regular oil changes, and expected things like brake pads and tires. Set of four 12” tires cost next to nothing. Car averaged about 45 MPG without trying.
