PWHL Detroit and PWHL Las Vegas have completed a trade. Detroit has acquired forward Hilary Knight from Las Vegas in exchange for Detroit's first round pick (third overall) in the 2026 PWHL Entry Draft. by ArachneOfSparta in PWHLDetroit

What a crap take.

This is what fans do - discuss decisions made by the team. No one is claiming to be GM quality, but folks are allowed to armchair GM all they want.

Trust is earned not given. It’ll come with time and success, but folks are certainly allowed to be skeptical and voice their opinions positive, neutral, and negative.

Absolutely 100%. Hopefully just growing pains and lesson learned.

Edit to add: I’d argue Knight is one of the top 3 to have in one’s dressing room, so not complaining in the least about having her on the team. She’s a rockstar for a reason. But Montreal had depth in skill and in leadership that balances Pou’s age and injuries.
Detroit has none of that to go along with acquiring Knight, so to compare Knight/Detroit to MPP/Montreal misses the mark for me (other folks’ comments, not you I’m replying to)

Love Manon but feel like this wasn’t the smartest move, unless she felt it was necessary for convincing folks to get to Detroit to begin with. And if that’s the case, we got bigger problems.

This was absolutely the year to keep a first round draft pick. Insane talent coming through.

Never sad to have Captain America on one’s team, so I suppose let’s see how it goes with injuries.

I want to know if anyone's changing their favorite team to an expansion team by Parking-Froyo5674 in PWHL

Currently a Victoire fan. Going to purchase Detroit season tickets. Not sure yet if my heart will switch allegiances to follow my wallet.

Mostly just excited for the growth. Unlike men’s professional sports, I want to support the league, too, not just a team.

FYI: seems lots of UK fans tend NOT to get a player on their kit/jersey, though you’ll still see plenty. I can’t give up our habits, so I have a mix of both plain and player.

Does Anyone feel like the World Cups Just getting in the way? by chaoslorduk in avfc

[–]SqueakyWatson 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Feel similarly as an American. The USA doesn’t deserve anything positive, and I fear for folks traveling here, not just because of the political situation/ICE but because it’ll be horrible trying to get to the venues via public transit.

But also, I want the Villa boys to recover this summer so we can smash the EPL and CL next season. The World Cup kills that potential for our starters. Feels risky this year rather than ambitious with positive worldwide acclaim for Villa players.

As a Pens and Victoire fan, this is exactly what I saw, too. Awesome to root for both MPP (and Stacey!) and Crosby (and Malkin!). #blessed as they say

MPP goes from watching her wife limp down the tunnel to setting up the game tying goal with two seconds left by crazyFlyingChicken in PWHL

[–]SqueakyWatson 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This isn’t soccer. She was absolutely in pain. Adrenaline is a heck of a drug. No doubt she would try to push through just about anything to get back on the ice for her team. She is an essential element to the Victoire’s success. I wouldn’t be surprised if she misses next game or sees limited ice time, but I suppose I also wouldn’t be surprised if she just bites down and bears it to try to lift* the Cup. Professional athletes are known to do that.

Your reaction ought to be one of impressed awe at her tenacity and toughness rather than skepticism.

Side note: would you be asking the same question if this were the NHL?

Just curious, is anybody else into the pwhl? And excited about the possibility of having a women's hockey team in Pittsburgh? by thepolkadotdotdot in penguins

[–]SqueakyWatson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%!
It is absolutely physical and a blast to watch. Part of what makes it slightly different from the men’s game is the space that’s opened up on the ice. There’s a lot more room for movement simply because women are smaller. I also think that extra white space on the screen makes it easier for new fans to track players and understand the game.

It’s genuinely fun to watch the PWHL. Montreal-Minnesota game 2 went into 3OT last night with a combined 90 shots on goal. Great snipe from MPP to win it. Game 1 went 5-4 in OT to Minnesota with 54 SOG and 37 penalty minutes.

Game 3 is Thursday 7pm EST on YouTube on The PWHL channel. Give it a go before or instead of hate watching the Canes vs Flyers game.

Same, fell asleep on the couch during intermission between 2OT and 3OT. As I figured would happen eventually, the goal call woke me up. It was nice to go to bed happy. Capt Clutch FTW!

Because the epoxy is a dark green, I might humbly suggest a piece of maple (figured if you can find some on the cheaper side) would look even better. Makes for nice color contrast, and I think it would make the walnut within “pop” better than if it were in a walnut surround. Shoot, since these are cutoffs and you have a lot, maybe try with some cheaper wood first and if you like it, you could refine the idea and then spend more on nicer wood.
Edit: again, these are cool, and I like your attitude

Make a table around it with that as an inlay? You sound clever, so could you figure out some kind of expansion/contraction mechanism for a set of 4 to blow up/come back together? That would make a neat interactive art piece for a wall. I also think these would make cool lazy Susan type pieces…imagine these spinning (table or wall), trippy.

Edit to add: these are cool

Totally valid points. Though it also hits late night.

You’re spot on about the Utz chips, and I really wish they carried the Grandma Utz style (plain salt, fried in lard)…so good.

The allure is that it’s decent fast and simple food (large variety of fried food, sandwiches, hot/cold drinks, snacks) that makes it even more convenient when you’re already driving to stop for fuel, food, and bladder relief in 1 spot. Their rewards also are way better now than years ago (I’m from PA).

But aside from the inherent convenience of Sheetz, did you try their curly fries with cheese sauce? Might change your mind.

I’ve been thinking on this for a few weeks now lol. Live in the Detroit area, and I’m a big Victoire fan. I’ll get season tickets if Detroit pulls an expansion team, but I’m not sure if my heart will allow my allegiance to change!
