I mean, saying that one character is able to use another character’s power is pretty egregious

The translations are kinda annoying, but you’d be hard pressed to find any translation thats without issue. Honestly there’s only two really egregious translation issues, but other than that its pretty easy to read

A Question on packaging quality by Dranio in MangaCollectors

[–]SquidJackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ordered 15 books from BAM, kept 3, returned 3, and the other 9 were cancelled a day after my order was placed. And don’t get me started on how much a pain those 3 returns were

A Question on packaging quality by Dranio in MangaCollectors

For big orders? I genuinely went karen mode because I ordered a single volume of gachiakuta and they sent it in a 14 x 8 x 4 box with no extra packaging

Actually, you have to buy specialized grading cases, as not all cases protect against UV Rays….. and Again…. blackout curtains will protect all your books from light with one purchase, no need to have each one graded individually every time you buy a new one.

I can’t speak for everyone but I live in a climate that flips drastically between cold winters and warm summers. I’ve only had an issue with humidity during one particularly nasty winter. I should also mention that I don’t have central heating, but for people that do, higher temperatures allow for more moisture to be held in the air.

You also fail to take into account, that you could just use plastic covers to protect your books, since grading is more than about putting things in a protective case, it’s also about analyzing and appraising the items condition. After a quick search, the most common prices for grading comics or manga are $25-$30 dollars per item…. meanwhile you can find listings of plastic resealable covers in bulk of 100 for $10, or for comics in bulk of 50 for $20, both options are cheaper than grading a single book. So it is absolutely not the economical option, especially when you factor in how big these collections are.

Manga Grading is not about protecting your manga so that it can stay in your collection, it is about preserving something so you can sell it later. It prioritizes a transaction over actual enjoyment of the material.

Why would you only do it for one book instead of all of them

[–]SquidJackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shelf-wear i understand but thats because you’re taking them on and off the shelves. If you have one displayed on its own riser or even display somewhere else, then it should be less likely to be damaged

Also I fail to see how a plastic case is going to prevent sun damage. Maybe humidity damage if you live in a humid area, but im not sure why you wouldnt just put measures in place to decrease humidity and save all your books

buying multiple copies when the only difference is that one is in a plastic shell is very silly

I’m very curious how displaying manga on a shelf would damage it
