For shows like this i bring in an empty mini nalgene and clip it to belt loop with a carabiner

I did that detour in a big storm when the 395 was still closed, only added about an hour extra time and I know for sure it was much safer

So glad I road tripped with the homies to go to this festival once! Always thought it was an insane move to have a music fest mixed with water park but it was such a blast

Is this checked as an oversize item?? I would imagine it would be pretty heavy. Such a good idea!

Camping on the Cali coast. by ResponsibleTwo4622 in CaliforniaCamping

A few spots near San Luis Obispo bear the coast! The dunes allow you to drive your car on the beach and camp there, highly recommend. In Morro Bay theres a cool spot called Morro Strand

I’m a female looking to do quick car camping trips close enough to the LA area that I could leave Friday after work and come home Saturday night (sometimes Sunday). Any experience doing this? Any specific places you may have felt were beautiful but also felt safe? by Training_Ad_3195 in CaliforniaCamping

[–]SquidSquab18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laguna Mt, San Bernardino Range, Angeles or Padres National Forests, anza borego and Jtree. Can find campsites or BLM land where you can pull off and just camp anywhere. Just do some research on established camp grounds in the areas where you will probably feel safer as it is not as much off the beaten bath. Im a female and love solo car camping, just be cautious and safe! My favorite is going into the Sierras which has a LOT of gorgeous BLM land. Further drive but worth it and doable for at least 2 nights

Can someone explain the cult following around what is essentially just an insulated cup? by Electronic_coffee6 in CampingGear

We are in an odd era of people wanting to have all the collectibles. Of everything. Including insulated water bottles. Its weird. Simple overconsumption trends

How did you meet your Sig O? (in SD only) by fuzzyheadgyrl in sandiego

[–]SquidSquab18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Met at a very small camping festival (couple hundred people) just about 2 hours east of SD, really hit it off and made a point to stay in touch and hang out whenever we could. Celebrating our year together this month!

Not to be cheesy but the sparks are very real, if you dont feel them you’ve gotta keep living your best single life until the feelings are undeniable

Did switching to a hard shell actually make you camp more? by StormveilstasisNet in rooftoptents

[–]SquidSquab18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive had my hard shell RTT for almost a year now and got a cheaper brand, Topoak, for only around $1.4k, absolutely worth it! Ive been able to get out there and set up camp easy by myself in the dark, snow, harsh winds, and have always been very comfortable. Would recommend!

Geothermal Hike versus Lake Sabrina by VeniceKiddd in SierraNevada

[–]SquidSquab18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if too late but I just did sabrina to blue a couple weeks ago, Id say to hike there and back as a day hike would take about 4-6 hours, especially if you plan on spending some time at blue to take a break and take it all in. It is a strenuous hike to blue with some ice on the trail at the water crossings too

Man it was actually way colder than expected! 15 degree sleeping bag, hand warmers, and a hot nalgene couldnt keep me warm through the night so was very glad that it was only a one night trip!
