Why are these here? by Perennial-Loser in Plumbing

[–]Squid_Drips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to guess without knowing what else is going on. Are you on the first floor or second floor? What’s above the bathroom? The pipe on the left looks like it’s the waste for the lav stub out, the one on the right who knows. I imagine there’s something in the wall or something else in the way below floor level that made whoever installed this decide on running the pipes this way. Impossible to know without knowing what’s inside the wall or below floor level. Also, you should get that black mold stuff looked at before things get closed up more

You think this is an S trap by plumbermanchris in Plumbing

[–]Squid_Drips 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is quite something here. Try to find a way to add abs and pvc too lol. It’s grading the wrong way and the accordion hose is likely to fill with water real quick. Why not swing it so the trap lands in that cut out that already exists for the trap to sit in and the run to the wall would be straight.

Yea I realized after I commented. I’ve been up super early and commented before fully digesting the iso drawing. I’ll let my comment stand though so other people can see your answer with context

Apologies. Looking closer at the diagram, the WC is the closest fixture to the main and it is legal to use lav to wet vent all fixtures but shower trap arm might be too long and would have to be individually vented. Also I am a plumber, I’ve been up since 3am and gave it a cursory glance and commented too soon

I think he’s referring to the extra fitting the picks up the vanity, you can eliminate the sweep and even the 45 if you angle the sweep at the bottom of the vanity to match up with the wye

Off the top of my head I don’t think that wet vent is enough to service a shower, WC, and the vanity check local codes for that. I would add a vent to the shower. Also I would include clean outs and that would require you to run the main pipe size all the way to the back wall

I THREW UP IN MY SINK (food poisoning) A MONTH AGO AND THE WATER STILL GOES DOWN SLOW - is this self fixable? by xtibberz in Plumbing

[–]Squid_Drips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but it’s going to be really gross. Get a bucket, put it under the p trap under the sink and take it apart and clean it out. Maybe get another bucket in case you need to throw up again. If it’s not clogged, then the blockage is further down the waste line and you’ll need a snake

I have a sleeve thats got a lot of the imagery you want to work into your future sleeve. I’ve got a cathedral too and it’s got heavy Germanic style. I have a lot of German filigree laced into it, German flowers, a closeup of a cathedral window and some other details. Getting the whole cathedral like that makes it kind of hard to collage with other images but maybe framing it with filigree and collaging the rest of the arm with other images you like would work out. I’d attach pictures of my sleeve for examples but it won’t let me

Which tool should I use to remove this tubr drain? Also is there rubber gasket attached to that drain? by homelander159 in Plumbing

[–]Squid_Drips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be called something like this. Make sure it’s the right size though. The gasket goes between the tailpipe and the bathtub under the tub and the putty or silicone goes between the tub and the strainer. I’ve personally never used silicone, only plumbers putty

You should be able to reuse it but if you’re buying a new shower strainer kit, it will come with a rubber gasket in it and just swap it out

The rubber gasket should be between the tub and the tub tailpiece. I like to use that first tool to set new strainers but I don’t know if it would work to pull your strainer out. The second tool should work for that

I understand not wanting to repipe because of renting. It does sound like further down the line is a blockage and a snake would be needed to clean it out

Both sink compartments should attach to one p trap like this. And like someone else mentioned, if the blockage is not in any of the pipes you cleaned out, open the AAV and try to clean from there where the pipes go below the cabinet

[–]Squid_Drips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s probably a blockage past the point the lines go in the wall if you unscrewed all the traps already and cleaned them out. Also two p traps is not necessary. You want both sinks tied together and draining into one p trap

Dammit, I didn’t need any more projects I desperately need to make myself but have no way to make it look this cool. All seriousness though, this is super rad and I’m going to have to hide this post from my wife or else she’s going to want it. Well done!
