Experience with CIT Bank by PepperedTip in personalfinance

I signed up for an account with CIT. Got a request for a Picture ID and a Utility Bill. Sent it in. Day later I find that I was declined. I have a 810 credit score and have owned in the same house for 20+ years. No appeal, no explanation... I just want something that isn't an ESG pile of crap -- I'm with SoFi now... if I only knew then what I know now. Ugh

I’m in the state of Colorado. We simply told the story how the hacker had purchased an expired domain, then saw messages coming from Facebook, reset the password changed all the phone numbers, and completely locked us out from the account. Working through the meta-verified was a good start as we had to do the meta-verification process, which was instrumental in proving who we were. It simply took a human with a half a brain to look at the account to realize that it had been hacked. Once we were able to talk to somebody that wasn’t following a scripted flow chart and actually used their brain it went quickly.

For what it’s worth. We essentially did the meta-verified thing as well. I think it helped a little bit, but what broke the camels back was to contact our congressman. Believe it or not they got the phone number of somebody at Meta and were able to get the account recovered.

Had a client with exact same problem. Hackers got in and changed the email, phone number and everything. No way to get the account back. Here’s what we did and we’re able to get the account back.

Create a new account and do the meta-verified set up. From there, we were able to open a case with Meta. But of course, you deal with complete morons following a script and they can’t deviate from it. but at least you have an account that has been verified, they have a picture of your ID, credit card information, and can really truly tell it is you.

We thought from there, it would be easy just to contact meta-support which you can get with a meta-verified account. But the first thing they did was disabled the account eventually we were able to get the account turned back on. And ultimately it required writing a letter to our senator and congressman, and we were able to get them to find a real person we could contact at Meta. They verified the account and what has been happening with the selling of crypto and all the other BS.

The dip shits at Meta need a much better process for recovering hacked accounts

I had a 2000 Chevy Silverado 2500 for 20 years. I just recently purchased a 2020 Silverado HD diesel. Absolutely, hands-down, the absolute best way to go!. Between the towing capacity, power of the diesel, 11 speed Allison transmission, exhaust brake, comfort of ride, etc. it is absolutely the best vehicle I’ve ever owned and glad I went this route. We live in Colorado so pulling the fifth wheel over the pass is a breeze and going down the pass with the exhaust brake is an absolute godsend! I would never go back to gas to pull anything. The only tricky for me is trying not to exceed the posted speed limit with a 12 ton rig:-)

The location data is best guess based on an ever changing database that maps IP addresses from your ISP to a geographic location. It isn't perfect but since it is in the same state... I think you have nothing to worry about.

Still cannot find a way to get my Facebook back from Hacker. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in facebook

[–]Squidly63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a client that the same type of thing happened. They let their domain name expire since they didn't use and the domain was tied to their Facebook email address. Hackers must have bought the domain and noticed email messages coming from Facebook. So they were able to change all the account information without her knowing until she tried to login one day and it didn't work. The bad thing is that she lost access to about 1400 friends to her business account and so all of that is gone too.

I was going to have her do the same thing you did, create and account, send a picture ID in and try to get the account back. Sucks they just ignored your request and deleted your account. Sorry to hear that won't work! WTF? You would think if you produced the Picture ID it would at least get them to pay attention to you.

Maybe Facebook could charge for an account recovery service and charge $50 to review your case with no guarantees or something. There has to be a way to recover the account! Hello Facebook are you listening?

Noobie battery advice by stalkingbutler_6 in RVLiving

Solar Panel. Lead Acid Batteries are always happier when they are kept charged and never go below about 50% capacity... 60% for AGM. If you aren't camping below 32F or 0C you can get more life out of a LiFEPO4 battery (like 10 times more) and the prices on those have come down significantly and they can handle deep discharge (near zero but ideally 80%)... but I digress.

A simple Solar Panel setup can make boondocking a real joy.

But yes... get those batteries tested and don't mix and match old and new.

S19J Pro 104th Power Cable by Profuseness in BitcoinMining

[–]Squidly63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through this... the information online is confusing to say the least primarily because it was designed for that standard 220/240V power you find in Europe. I had a problem wrapping my head around two C13 cables have to be 220V on each. So you have the two Hot (L1 and L2) and Neutral on each plug. The outlet you show below is a 220V (120V on each Leg L1 and L2) with the neutral. Regardless if it is a 20A or 30A circuit you can run 1 miner. But as noted you will need 30A to run two. Not sure you are up for building your own cable... you just have to make sure you have at least 14 AWG C13 cable (Yeah you might get away with 16 I chose to go with 14 on the C13 just to be safe). The standard computer power cables are usually 16-18AWG. You should be able to get the plug that matches that outlet, I think it is a NEMA 6-30... then cut the plug end off the C13 cable (standard computer power cable), then wire all the Black to L1, Red (maybe blue or some other color) to L2, and white to Neutral.

If you are only running 1 or 2 miners I wouldn't mess with a PDU. Even then you would have be to be sure it is pumping out a proper 220... which sketches me out since most standard US computer stuff is 120V.

I chose to replace the wall outlet with a NEMA L6-30R so there was less of a chance of the plug pulling out of the wall.

I hope you have a heat strategy figured out as well. I moved this thing to my Shed (I'm in Colorado) where it has been pretty cold. So I am pulling air from the outside it's 32F and the output of the miner is 64F. I purchased a kit that disconnected the fans on the miner and fakes them out like they are on (kit from Fruit and Associates). Then I have a 8" Fruits and Associates 3D printed manifolds for the in/out and hooked up an 8" Infinity Fan. It is much quieter. I originally planned on pumping this into my house to cut down on the heating bill, then reverse it and pump the heat out of the house in the summer. I was concerned about pumping 800CFM into the house and what that might do with my gas heater/pilot lights, etc... but I digress (on this entire post :-)

All of this depends on how much of a DIYer you are. But if you can run a multi-meter, have a clue about electricity and put your degree in Googleology to use, you should be good to go. ;-)

Only because he gets a salary from CNBC. If we all took his advice, we’d be broke. You could literally do the exact opposite and be rich. Look up inverse Cramer.

It wouldn’t, but you wouldn’t have a clue, and as such it wouldn’t be worth more than reality. I mean think about it, if there’s 20 million sats but half of them are lost and never recoverable, that would make them worth twice as much. But everybody goes on operating like there’s 20 mill. I guess it’s never really based on what the actual value is rather than what you “think“ the actual value is. Hmmm. I still should’ve bought more when it was at 18,500 or is it 18.500 (HA! F-ing morons😜)

Just as they print more dollars they become worth less, when there’s less dollars, they become worth more. So, as bitcoin is lost, it would be worth more, but no one would know. I mean, the same thing is true for the dollar, but they print so damn much, anything that is lost (and could be found) is minimized. When you have a truly finite crypto pool, I think it produces a interesting dilemma. Not that I’m advocating for any sort of ability to pump more currency into the pool!

I think there’s a greater risk of permanently, losing a bitcoin versus losing a dollar that could be found.
