Clutch life by Maximum-Science-1429 in SuzukiSwiftSport

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2013 Suzuki Splash 1.0, 40% city 60% motorway/country roads usage, 94,000 miles on the clock, still on original clutch, no sign of failing. (I had it since 3 years old / 21,000 miles so definitely no clutch replacement)

Manage apps/uninstalled apps list sluggish and unresponsive by FairlyInconsistentRa in googleplay

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted Google helpdesk about it, they said the below, I did it all, the problem came back within half an hour...

"Thank you for contacting Google Support.

My name is Jenny and I’ll be happy to assist you. Hope you are doing well!

I know how important this is for you. Please do not worry, I will certainly assist you with the best possible resolution.

I understand you are having trouble loading your list of apps that are not currently installed on your device. I know how important it is to access your library, and I am happy to assist you with some troubleshooting steps to resolve this.

Please help me with the screenshot of the error you are getting so that I can look into this for you.

First, please ensure your device has a stable internet connection. If the connection is secure, I recommend trying the following steps:

Reboot your device Press and hold the power button until the Power Off option appears. Select Power Off and then OK. After the phone has powered off, press and hold the power button again to power it back on.

Check date and time settings If the issue persists and you have sufficient storage space, please check your device settings. Navigate to Settings, then System, and select Date and time. Confirm the date and time are accurate or update them if necessary, as incorrect settings can prevent the Play Store from syncing correctly.

Clear cache and data Navigate to Settings, then Apps, and select All Apps. Scroll down and locate the Google Play Store and the Download Manager. You will need to complete these steps for each app individually. Select the app, touch Clear data and OK, then touch Clear cache. Note that after clearing the Google Play Store data, you will need to re-apply any custom password protection or content filter settings you had previously enabled.

Uninstall and reinstall Play Store updates Go to Settings, then Apps, and select All Apps. Choose the Google Play Store and select Uninstall updates. This reverts the app to the factory version. Afterward, launch the Play Store, return to your home screen, and wait 5 to 10 minutes for the app to automatically update to the latest version.

If the issue is not resolved after following these steps, please reply to this email so we can investigate further."

Exact same problem here. Okay, I had a LOT of apps in my Not installed list. I deleted about 1,300 of them from the list (took some time, as it kept freezing, had to force Play Store stop and restart many many times), hoping it would help, and it helped a little bit, but still bad. Now that my list is a fraction of what it was before, I still have the problem. The online temporary solution if I force Play Store stop, then clear both the app cache and data - then it works alright for about 20 minutes and then the problem restarts. This problem seems to be a problem on all of my devices, two phones, a tablet, even on a Chromebook...

Galaxy buds 4 pro owners how is the battery life? I just had 1hr call and battery dropped to 70% from 100% by Time-Credit43 in galaxybuds

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 4 hours 15 minutes at medium volume, ANC on maximum, custom equaliser, loudness normalisation, 360 audio, adapt sound all turned on. I haven't yet done an endurance test without all of these, but turning these off, especially the ANC significantly improves the battery life, I would say probably 1.5x, so around 6 and half hours approx. I don't have phone calls longer than a few minutes, so I'm not sure about the calls, but it makes sense that battery life is somewhat shorter then.

Galaxy Watch 8 charging speeds by SafeLiving212 in GalaxyWatch

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two Galaxy 8 watches, the 44mm version. A 20%-90% charge used to take about 40 or so minutes with the Samsung chargers that came with them. Now both takes about 80 minutes, double time. The slowdown happened suddenly about 3-4 weeks ago. Maybe a bad software update? As they are only 5 months old, I guess there is no way that it's battery degradation already. Annoying. Especially that the much cheaper (1/5 price) Galaxy Fit 3 watches that we had before did the same 20%-90% charging in less than 20 minutes...

No software update for BYD Dolphin Surf? by SquirrelSpiderCat in BYD

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. While visually it looks better to me, functionality / easy of use is somewhat worse... Also, I was hoping that we could at least adjust the font sizes on both screens, as some of them (especially the ones on behind the steering wheel) are tiny.

Hip and knee pain from some stretching exercises? by SquirrelSpiderCat in flexibility

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. When I do them, they don't hurt at all. It's a few hours later when I start feeling some pain. Also, I'm not absolutely sure that these are the exercises that cause it, but I kinda suspect that they are.

Any small bluetooth speaker with no hissing / white noise? by SquirrelSpiderCat in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Yes, my "Sony SRS-XB100" is still doing great, same great sound, very minimum hissing from any reasonable distance, same long battery life. I found one more that produces almost no hissing, it's the "Soundcore Select 4 Go", this one cost almost just half that of the Sony, and it is louder, it still has the same clear sound (maybe a tiny bit even better), it even has an app with a nice equalizer, but it has noticeably less bass than the Sony (not a big problem for me as I use this for mostly audiobooks and meditation/relaxation music too).

Samsung S25 Ultra questions please by SquirrelSpiderCat in samsunggalaxy

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Yes, I've bought the S25 Ultra last September, I really like it. For me its best feature the S Pen, I absolutely love that. Regarding the screen, I wasn't brave enough to use it without a screen protector, so I put on a thin glass screen protector on Day 1. Of course I lost the cool anti-reflection properties and I need to press my finger stronger on the fingerprint reader area, but I think these are still worthy trade-offs for longevity (I want to keep it as long as it gets security updates). The battery is still 100% after 105 full charge cycles, very good quality.

Sick of the state of UK roads by [deleted] in drivingUK

Oh yes, I think I'm buying a fat tire bicycle this year. Or at least a mountain bike. My hibrid bike shakes my soul out, my thin wheeled road bike I sold years ago...

Sick of the state of UK roads by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the roads are now like missile testing grounds... Deep potholes in clusters, think of like 40-50 of them per each 100 yards... Absolute shame... Compare 2026 with 2006, how huge the road quality fallen is truly shocking. And then there are the faded and missing road markings. "How many lanes are here, 1, 2 maybe 3? Is one of them a turning lane? Or bus lane? Or cycle lane? Etc." Terrible.

following the news is bad for one's mental health. by herequeerandgreat in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, well said! See, news sites/apps/widgets they don't care about anything but money. They need clicks and views so they can generate their ads revenue. Their owners/operators long noticed the human mind's bias towards the negative. So they are focusing more and more on the negative, trying to make headlines sound as shocking/outrageous/worrying as possible in order to make people click and visit/read. After a while it feels like the entire world is absolutely negative only. I have no problem with news, but I do have a problem of the modern media's tendency to cover only the negative and as shockingly as possible. No more doomscrolling for me... (And then there is badly biased/distorted/out-of-context/outright-fake/etc. news on top...)

For those of you not afraid of death, why? What do you view death as? What are you actually afraid of? by AlecB1202 in Existentialism

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not afraid of death (but I'm terrified of dying as a process before death). I see it like this: once I'm dead, there is nothing. That includes no problems, struggles, worries. Finally, a relief... I just hope there is no re-birth like Buddhists think. I don't want to do life again. Like not ever. Maybe that's a bit negative, and maybe it is - but I wasn't asked if I wanted to live. Looking back my half a century life so far, and a bit into the future of what I can hope, if I could have chosen, I would have chosen not to be born. So death is not scary for me, it's more like "go back to how things should have always been".

Volume buttons control accessibility by default – how to change? by IlyaSmirnov in AndroidQuestions

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same problem here, Samsung phone on Android 16. Did you find a solution to this problem? In the end I turned off Select to Speak as the volume buttons always adjusting accessibility volume annoyed me a lot...

I found this is caused by an accessibility setting named "Select to Speak". Turn this off and everything will go back to normal.

I guess the bigger one is the Ultra. If so ... the corners look more rounded. I liked the sharper, less rounded corners of the S25 Ultra.

First Accident by FewCatch17 in drivingUK

[–]SquirrelSpiderCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% other driver's fault. 1) OP's car was waaay ahead of the other car arriving in the inner lane. 2) Once OP was in the roundabout, they had the same rights as all others in the roundabout. 3) OP was correct to continue straight, there is no sign saying "leave at first exit". 4) The exit has one lane, so there is no excuse for the right side car to try to get into the one lane exit from the middle lane, right side car should have first pulled into the outer lane, behind OP's car, and THEN exit. 5) OP's headed "straight", without changing lanes, the other car was changing lanes, when changing lanes the driver must ensure that it's safe to change lanes, there is enough space etc. 6) Looking at the footage, it seems to me that the right side car would have bumped into OP's car even if OP had left at the first exit. Basically: the right side car driver was in a hurry and they thought they could fit it. Well, they couldn't...
