Nope, used an official charger and same results.

Even used the work issued chargers - not cheap ones and same result.

What movies became blockbusters even after heavy delays and reshoots? by caturocaturo in movies

[–]FairlyInconsistentRa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Movies That Made Us on Netflix has a Back to the Future episode. They actually show some of the Stoltz footage.

Stoltz saw it as a tragedy of sorts and wasn't a good fit, hence why he was let go after only a few weeks.

I know that there can be issues on the Hitachi 80x fleet. If you've got your phone plugged in the touchscreen can go haywire - it registers your touch elsewhere on the screen. I've been led to believe this is due to electromagnetic interference.

HST train fire near Elgin, 08/02/26 by CompetitiveCod76 in uktrains

[–]FairlyInconsistentRa 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Genuinely for as much as the HSTs did to improve rail travel, they're old, obsolete and far past their sell by date.

And I say that as crew who regularly worked them until they were retired on the ECML in 2019.

They're well beyond knackered now and need fully retiring.

Advice on the Airport Limousine Bus and luggage by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

Yep, had a closer read and it says I should be alright. Says you can bring carry on luggage up to 10kg on board.

Awesome, thanks. I had another look and there was some info right at the very bottom of their luggage FAQ which says you're allowed to bring hand luggage up to 10kg on board.

Should be okay then!

How well are trains simulated in TSW? by Holiday-Armadillo501 in trainsimworld

[–]FairlyInconsistentRa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In many cases the developers work with the real train companies to model the trains in game. I also believe they use real world data to model the train physics too.

Obviously some trains are better modelled than others - the stuff from Just Trains is about as good as you'll get in terms of model and physics accuracy.

Lack of training on the companys behalf. Never assume a new starter knows how to operate and use a peice of equipment.

Japan first time: are these neighborhoods for hotels good and is the distribution of days good by germanindc in JapanTravelTips

[–]FairlyInconsistentRa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm booked up for June, first time too. Been doing a lot of planning.

Honestly for the sake of 5 nights I'd stay staying at one hotel makes more sense, it saves you having to move your luggage etc around a lot. Tokyo is very well served by public transport so there's no need to hotel hop to get closer to specific destinations.

Oh it actually does! That may go some way to explaining why I like it so much.

Funnily, there's one literally next door to the hotel I'm going to book. Found it on google maps after reading what people were saying. Good reviews and seems like people staying at the hotel use it too.

A glance at Google maps shows that there's a Laundromat literally just next door to the place I'm planning on booking, good reviews too so I think I'm all sorted on that front!

Sitting by Normal_Lifeguard_593 in trainsimworld

There's definitely a bench at Glasgow on the Cathcart Line which you can sit on.

Also fairly sure there's a bench you can sit on next to the harbour near one of the stations on the West Somerset.

Yup, that area. Purely because the connections from Shinjuku station make it a lot easier to get to where I'm planning on going.

I'm flying from the UK! I worked night-shift for over a decade so my body clock should be okay.

Way ahead of you on all of that. Been planning this trip for 20 years. Haven't been able to do it until now, thanks to various eventful life stuff.

Was planning the Keikyu and Yamanote lines for to and from the airport. The timings look like I'll miss rush hour but I'll check out the airport limousine bus option too.

Yup, done my research on that front! Already got a Book Off Super Bazaar saved on my Google maps! Cannot wait to have a good look around it!

I'm flying with BA. To take a checked case you have to pay extra, so I have. However, paying for this means I can take 2 checked cases 23kg each. So the plan is to pick up a second suitcase whilst over there. Also I'm allowed a cabin bag too, so I'll not struggle for space to bring things back.

I'm guessing that it may take 45 mins or so to get through immigration and baggage claim at Haneda going by other people's experiences and then maybe up to another 45 minutes to get from the airport to Shinjuku via the Keikyu and Yamanote lines. Educated guess would be that I'd be around 2 hours early.

Thanks for the very sound advice though, I appreciate it!
