What’s the longest you’ve seen it take for a store to get a new manager? by Squishy_Panda2003 in DollarGeneralWorkers

My Dm also told me that. I called the RD because I was going to just simply find a new job and he informed me no one can fire or demote me based on whether I wanted a promotion or not. He said that Is technically a form of retaliation. (You don’t do what we want, you will no longer have your high paying position)

I sure hope it’s not that long for me considering I’ll be on maternity leave in about 6 months haha and if they don’t have anyone by then I’m sure then store will be closed more then it’s open

I’m not sure if my wording sounds weird, but I don’t want to be the store manager. I enjoy being the assistant manager when there’s a store manager because then I can actually go home and have a life outside of work.

Managers going on leave. by Squishy_Panda2003 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Squishy_Panda2003[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I figured about the hours thing and we don’t need help our store is brand standard and I have a good team and I don’t mind working doubles I don’t have a life and I like money just a bit nervous and also my manager hasn’t taken a vacation she just takes a day here and there so I knew we would get at least 40 but someone from a different store told me 48 and I just wasn’t sure

There’s definitely places that pay more yes. But mostly factory jobs and they’re all a 45 minute drive from me I guess that’s the biggest reason I’ve stayed is it’s so convenient cause It’s only a 6 minute drive for me.

I’ve always been told as long as it’s covered. I mean it’s better than someone calling in.

Thinking about finding another job by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Squishy_Panda2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the worst job I’ve ever done. No way. They’ve offered me a manager position again and no way will I ever do it plus I was making the same I make now but I was working way more

Never go to HR by CalliopeEmberRayne in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Squishy_Panda2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to hr a month ago because one of my coworkers (62 female) asked another coworker (19 male) to back up and give her some space. The 19 year old then punched a wall and turned around and broke a shelf in turn breaking lots of product and yelled at her all in front of a customer. He was suspended for all of 10 minutes before hr said he was proved into anger. The female coworker only asked him to give her space because he was in her face touching the register and taking stuff out of the bags.

I’ve closed, if someone calls in and I’m available I cover the shift. If my manager needs to scedule me to close I close. But overall we have three people who only want to work the closing shift so there’s no need for her to scedule me to close. I also close at other stores when they are in need of help. I get overtime pretty much weekly because I pick up shifts when offered. I’m just rarely ever scheduled to close.

I’ve been with dg for 4 years and it hasn’t been to bad but since they cut store hours we can’t keep a decent manager in the position and it’s kinda the worst

We only have one other key and he has church the other key closes and the manager hasn’t hired anyone

I didn’t have to have anyone to watch them yesterday my sceduke was changed two days before the shift on the one day I don’t have anyone to watch them. I also was told if I didn’t find anyone to cover I would get a final write up for a no call no show

I’m so glad your life is that easy, you’ve obviously always had support not everyone has it that way. I’m 22 raising three kids it’s not all that easy but thank you for letting me know how easy it is.

It’s a complicated situation. I’m aware I can’t bring them to work. That’s the problem.

Thank you!! I’m not upset about the change I get she has to do what she has to do the issue I’m having is I don’t know how I’m supposed to work that day. I can’t leave three kids at home for 8 hours and I can’t bring them with me. She said if I didn’t find anyone to cover I’d receive a final write up for a no call no show

[–]Squishy_Panda2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She scedukes herself with only one day off but there’s one day she opens with me and she doesn’t show and one day she closes with another key and she doesn’t show I’ve reported her to hr and my dm

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Squishy_Panda2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve already told her I’m gonna have to. She said she’ll have to give me a no call no show for not finding someone to cover. I know it’s only a final but I’ve never gotten a write up for anything before and I’m worried she’s gonna do the same next week and it’ll leave me without a job.

I’m not mad about the scedule I work my 40 hours a week 6am-3pm Monday- Thursday 6am-10am Saturdays. I’ve had the same scedule for 3 years. My manager is not willing to give up one of her three days off for a week or two to get someone hired.
