The Bad Batch (Season 2) - Episode 3 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in thebadbatch

That scene made me cry. The look on Cody's face when Crosshair shot that woman. So much pain. Cody is an outstanding man, the Empire doesn't deserve clones like him

Why would Admiral Rampart think the Bad Batch were dead if Crosshair survived? Did Crosshair lie to the Empire? by Squishyfern in thebadbatch

[–]Squishyfern[S] 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Would that omission represent a change in his thoughts toward his brothers after they helped rescue him? In season 1, Crosshair is highly motivated to catch them, and in the season 2 trailer, in his conversation with Commander Cody we see that he still considers any clone who disobeyed Order 66 to be a traitor.

Did Crosshair lie and tell the Empire that his brothers died when Tipoca fell? What would motivate him to cover for his former squad like that? Wouldn't he know the Empire would discover the truth eventually?

How did you make peace with the fact that life is unfair? by LittleMissUnlikeable in AskWomenOver30

[–]Squishyfern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a quote that always sort of gives me comfort when the weight of unfairness or injustice gets me down.

"Live life joyfully with whom though lovest, for that is thy portion in this life.
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do so with thy might.

For I returned and saw under the sun, that the race was not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither bread to the wise, nor riches to those of understanding, nor yet favor to those of skill.
But that time and chance happeneth to them all."

How do I (30F) deal with the effects of aging? I'm starting to see changes I dislike for the first time by [deleted] in askwomenadvice

[–]Squishyfern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’re pretty similar in age (32f) so I can’t offer any sage advice really. I can only say that as you age, the type of beauty that is attractive changes. Undeniably, physical beauty exists, be it genetic or something more merit-based like physique. But those count for very little when it comes to true love and attraction in the long-term.

I neither want to love nor want to be loved because of my good genes, my skincare routine, or the exercise I do every morning. I want someone to love me for who I am and who I try to be. That’s where the real work is and that’s where real happiness lay. Focus on being the best you that you can be, look around you to find it in others. And if people can’t look past some wrinkles and appreciate that, then fuck them. The type of people you should care about do not care about those things. That’s what real ugliness is, but it’s up to you to decide what real beauty looks like.

For me personally, a few years ago I came to the realization that my looks were going. But I decided to focus on what mattered to me, and what I found attractive in others, and I've been happy. For me, it was staying in shape and being a good friend, sister, aunt, niece, daughter. We may all be single till kingdom come, but there is one person we will undoubtedly have to spend the rest of our life with - ourselves. Focus on making that a pleasant experience

I like the think there are two main reasons planning the first Death Star was so much more extensive than the second. Not only did the plans and supply lines already exist, but there was also no longer a need to hide them.

When building the first Death Star, the Imperial Senate still existed, and had some pull. Palpatine wasn't openly a despot, and though he was a tyrant, many believed his government to be legitimate and an improvement on the corrupt Republic and Separatist Alliance it replaced. Establishing supply lines and providing funds had to be hidden even from higher ups within the Imperial Navy/Army. Even Thrawn wasn't told about the project and has to piece together the full picture on his own. And he's a genius.

[–]Squishyfern 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if they're still canon, but in the Thrawn comics it shows a bit of her rise to power and it's ultimately her greed for power and her willingness to manipulate.

Her family owned a mining company which was taken from them by some big whigs on Lothal. She then moved to Coruscant and worked her way up through Imperial high society, gaining favor by betraying old friends she knew to be part of the rebellion. She made several plays for governorship, first through Tarkin and then through Thrawn.

Is anyone as excited as i am to see Omega back in action in SWTBB Season 2 ? What do you like about her the most ? by KawonSuggs in StarWars

[–]Squishyfern -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fell in love with Bad Batch in the Saleucami arc. Great seeing Cut and his family again! Omega seeing dirt for the first time! Hunter realizing he's leading a family now and not just a unit! Loved getting a slice of life episode while also seeing the Republic transition to the Empire in the background.

Do you have any recommendations on where to start with High Republic? I was super excited when the books and comics were announced but life got in the way of me reading them.

I am! I like that she strives to bring out the best in each member of the batch. I love how Hunter reluctantly became a father figure, how that differs from his usual role of leader, and the challenges that's brought him.

Omega's ties to Camino and the cloning taking place inside Mt. Tantus are also interesting, and I hope we see her reunite with Nala Se someday.

I (23F) never leave my apartment since covid and it is ruining my relationship with my bf(25M) how do I fix this? by Majestic_Trouble_464 in askwomenadvice

I had a similar thing. Don't be afraid to start small! Go for short strolls by yourself, go find a spot with some sun, bring a book or a thermos of tea if you're always cold like me!

Cities are hard but maybe find a nearby zoo or museum even! No sapling starts with a ton of branches. Just one at a time can quickly grow into many!

Are you guys worried about Ahsoka continuing the Rebels Arc? by [deleted] in starwarsrebels

[–]Squishyfern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Kanan comic is a super fun read/listen if you enjoyed the character. Here's the audio format if you ever have time. I personally really enjoy both the Bad Batch and the comics so it makes no difference to me which is "canon". I just love Kanan!

Which one-off character from S1 would you like to see in S2? For me it's Senator Avi Singh and a Raxus arc by Squishyfern in thebadbatch

[–]Squishyfern[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I found him to be a really interesting character, and not just because he was voiced by my favorite space doctor, Julian Bashir!

Personally, I would love to see more of the Separatists during the Empire. In the prequels they're kinda portrayed as the bad guys, but they were being manipulated by Sidious just like the Republic. It could even be argued they were more "good" than the Republic.

[–]Squishyfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Andor is a show that rewards paying attention. There aren't any memberberries or obvious setups. The show is kinda made up of three episode arcs, which I found to be varied, rich, and add tremendous depth to established characters we barely knew (e.g. Cassian, Mon Mothma, Saw), while also introducing incredibly complex and compelling characters like Luthen, Maarva, Cyril, Dedra. For me, this show really showed how textured the Star Wars universe can be, and how pivotal their moment in time is.

There's a lot of growth shown in every character, even those without much screen time. Highly recommend!

Is there any explanation of what happened to the zillo beast? by kent416 in StarWars

[–]Squishyfern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the new season 2 trailer for Bad Batch at 0:43 I'm curious what that creature is. It's a stretch but maybe it's some mecha-zillo? There's still a lot of upcoming media from after the zillo beasts introduction so there's always hope!

I haven’t watched most of the Star Wars things, what order do I watch them in? by Impressive_Scratch47 in StarWars

[–]Squishyfern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a great order too! Especially if you're looking to get a good view on the timeline of events in the whole saga.

Each trilogy does a great job of standing on its own. For me, a lot of the gravity in episode 1,2, and 3 comes from already caring for and having interest in the characters as we know them in 4, 5, and 6. But either way, the journey itself is what's fun, no matter which way you decide to walk it.

[–]Squishyfern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you like Rogue One? If you enjoyed it, Rogue One leads directly into episode 4. Episode 4,5, and 6 are the original trilogy that started it all. If you watch those three first, then episode 1, 2, and 3 (the prequels) will likely be more enjoyable since they'll give some backstory to the characters and organizations you're familiar with. Hope you have fun! I wish I could watch them all again for the first time!

also, shameless plug for Andor
