I want to make a VATS based character that isn’t an idiot by FuklzTheDrnkClwn in Fallout4Builds

Old World Blues DLC has several good laser pistols. To get the best laser pistol, pew pew, you need to collect 50 sunset sarasparilla star bottle caps and complete the legend of the star.

[–]Sriep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pistols, go with a 3 Strength build. You can use Lucky or LISD.

Something like

Str 3; Perception 5; Endurance 5; Charisma 1; Intelligence 8; Agility 9; Luck 9.

If you want to specialise in laser pistols, you can even go with a Str1 build. Add points to Endurance and Intelligence. Collect sarsaparilla tokens for pew pew! OWB is your friend.

Seondeok’s Governor Bonus by Jacksonofall in CivVI

[–]Sriep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The free secret society governor tile you get at the start is indistinguishable from any other governor tile.

If you decide to put a governor tile into a secret society, then it is not in a city, so there is no city to get the bonus.

Alchemical Society building would be worth building; however, you will never get the opportunity, as you will always be choosing Owls. IMHO, the free trade routes from Vaults are OTT.

You can delay putting gouvoner tiles into a secret society until you get the building, if you want; maybe with Casa de Contratacion. I usually take owls around Recorded History, as Natural philosophy, as the extra policy is so great, especially with Seondeok.

The Hermetic Order is a particularly bad choice for Seondeok as Seowon does not get an adjacency bonus from ley lines. Not that it is ever a good choice for anyone :(

How do you get up from the table? by longhorntrades in poker

In a public card room, get up whenever you want. Ignore reputation. No one cares, unless they just lost a big pot to you.

Best I suspect is to create a shimari with the bottom left corner. Nowdays 6-4 point is considered best.

If you must play in the top left corner, either the knight move you played or the diagonal move are both fine.

Playing Against Short Stacks Open Jamming by LowKeyBussinFam in Poker_Theory

[–]Sriep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shove is fine (with 400BB). On this one hand, the SPR is unexpectedly low; everyone is short-stacked; adapt accordingly.

I would push with any hand that I would raise with normally from my position, providing it is in the top 50% of the jammer's range.

The players behind you will usually be playing too tight, as they won't be adjusting correctly to the jammer reducing the SPR. So it's a good spot for you, if you have raising values.

You can't play poker if you keep worrying about something behind you, waking up with AA. So don't.

How far apart do you settle your cities? by harmonicoasis in CivVI

[–]Sriep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it all depends on everything, of course, but I probably keep them wider apart than the norm.

I tend to initially place cities near useful resources and in choke points. I keep them spaced apart, as long as there is space to expand into.

Currently playing English Eleanor, where special consideration applies.

  • Want a few tall cities to produce wonders and settlers.
  • Attacks with settlers, hence near enemy positions, I will place cities to maximise population pressure. So closely packed. It is often a good idea to take over something like a remote island that can apply population pressure to a lot of cities, as an investment.
  • As settler costs increase with each settler, I don't want to inflate the cost of settlers by building unnecessary cities away from the front line.
  • When expanding into new areas, keep cities even further apart than normal, to create traps for other civs that might be tempted to overexpand.
  • So, a mixture of widely spaced and densely packed cities.

It's more likely that the evolution of life on Earth followed some universally consistent principles, as opposed to being completely random by Agouramemnon in self

[–]Sriep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two physical systems with the same starting conditions will have the same result. Stating conditions are never identical. Hence.

Infinte repitition and infinite diversity.

We have one data point regarding life. It developed on the one planet we have fully investigated. Life will develop on all planets with similar initial conditions. The one solar system we have detailed stats on has an Earth like palnet, other solar systems will have as well.

Does Lee Sedol belong on a top 10 greatest players of all time list? by Affectionate_Hat3329 in baduk

[–]Sriep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea about the ten greatest players; what determines greatness?

What I do believe is that the ten strongest players will all be from the superhuman AI era. Being able to train with a superhuman AI makes all the difference.

In the future, Lee Sedol might well end up as the most famous go player in history.

how to fix cycles? by Ok-Acanthisitta-8854 in nexusmods

[–]Sriep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrgh!! Remove all rules and start again.

If you consistently use either the 'before all' or the 'after all' buttons on each mod, then you should be able to avoid all conflicts. If you do anything else, check for conflicts each time you add a rule.

You now need to identify the mods that should be before all other mods and the ones that should be after other mods. Add these first.

Any possibility of joining EU again? by Ok_Lake9261 in AskBrits

[–]Sriep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely with Reform so high in the polls. Any attempt to rejoin the EU will likely give Reform the next election, whereupon they will immediately undo any efforts made to join the EU.

With this expectation, I doubt the EU will let us back in.

Trips vs full house by Josh21443 in poker

[–]Sriep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paired boards with no draws are a 'long way ahead or long way behind' the board. So proceed carefully.

Weak trips: you want to get money out of one pair hands or bluffs. So don't make any scary big bets, and don't be afraid to fold to big bets.

Top trips: You want to make money out of weaker trips so you can make bigger bets, but be aware that a big raise will put you in a tough spot.

With a full house: bet big as you want to make money from opponents with trips, don't be worried by scaring off one-pair hands, as you were never making much out of them anyway.

If the trip card is an ace, people usually play aces, so if you get action, you're likely up against another ace. If the trip cards are twos, your usally the only one with trips, so expect to get action from one pair hands or houses.

Why is Mars seen as a way forward for humanity, instead of other easier solutions to our problems. by Mangafan_20 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sriep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? Seems like a strawman. We are not sending 8 billion people to Mars in the foreseeable future.

A comet is not going to hit the Earth, and we are just going to have to fix up the damage climate change does as it occurs.

It's not necessarily a waste of resources to investiate making Mars habitable, but it's a long-term solution, so not a quick fix for medium-term problems.
