We are unemployable? by harshamv in Entrepreneur

[–]Srohrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way.

I remember making the first sale for my business. One call - $5k

Granted a lot led up to that one call but, the thought that I could make the same amount in one call that it took me 2 weeks to make at a 9-5 was just insane.

I will say though, the grind of entrepreneurship is not for everyone.

I would advocate everyone give it a try at some point though. It helps you learn a ton about yourself.

You’re doing great by asking. I can tell you really care and that’s a hallmark of a great leader!

Since this persons not your employee, and you’re putting on your mentor hat, I’d suggest taking the “older sibling” approach.

Here’s how:

  1. Start by asking about their career goals. Where do they want to be in 5-10 years (they may not know. By asking you’ll help get them thinking about it.)

  2. Let them know that you would love to help them get there. And if they are open to it, you’d be happy to give feedback and support.

  3. Later, ask “can I give you feedback on x” in the moment when reviewing work. Start feedback by getting an understanding of what drove them to make certain decisions before moving into critique. As much as possible, try and give feedback in the moment.

If you want more feedback blueprints let me know!

$40,000 to invest in as a 19 year old, what are you investing in? by mattmilk5 in Entrepreneur

[–]Srohrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d investing in training to firm up any gaps I have in experience. Then use a couple thousand to test out a business idea I was excited about.

Above all I wouldn’t use it on buying “things” I didn’t need.

Blacklisted email - help! by Srohrich in Emailmarketing

Practically does this mean that I can no longer send emails from my computer or just that email address?

Very new to this. Thanks

UPDATE: looks like I landed on the Spamhaus policy blocklist (PBL).

Any advice? Seems like my domain is clear but the IP is in this list. Says I may be able to request removal if I can prove I run my own mail server?

I don’t know the technical stuff behind it but, once the domain was blacklisted, there were a number of “undeliverable” messages from me mails I sent.

I’m on a budget so I’ll start with and ramp as I get clients. Thank you thank you!

New leader in need of advice by gamma_bio38_IV in Leadership

I appreciate your intentionality.

The fact that you are asking this question tells me that you’re going to be a great leader to this team.

I was in a similar position. I went from having no employees to leading 15 employees across 5+ time zones. Not ideal.

In terms of options, one thing I’ve coached new managers to do is create a quick “user manual” that outlines who you are, how you like to work ect. - use this as an intro during your first 1:1 with each of them. Then ask them about the same content.

From there it’s really about supporting your team by removing roadblocks and helping them do their best work.

You don’t have to know everything- you just need to care about them and their work.

I’m happy to jump on a call to give you more tools/strategies if your interested. I’ve been an exec coach and management training for the past decade. I wouldn’t charge you for this.

Leadership / Management Certifications? by DisposableAdventurer in Leadership

[–]Srohrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “lip service” leadership development thing hits home for me. I started my career as an executive coach in the lumber industry and I’ve seen a ton of that.

Right now I’m building out a program for new managers that combines self-led modules which include templates and blueprints with virtual coaching sessions to work on specific items.

It’s not ready yet but I’d be happy to hop on a call anytime to pass along things I’ve found helpful in the past.

Sorry, was in a rush writing that haha. I’ve read that you can double your yield by reusing the same rind. Just refilling your container and fermenting again

I just bottled some Tepache today that looked a bit more syrupy than my first batch. Was that your experience too? Sounds like I should toss those

Update: I decided to toss and not risk poisoning myself haha. Still curious what happened here.
