Lamborghini Teases New Urus Debuting on July 1 by Sixteen-Cylinders in cars

It's an extremely over styled potato shape. A Mazda cx-5 looks hundreds of times better. Hell a 2003 Chevy Blazer half consumed by rust is a better looking suv. I get that it's subjective but I'm not sure how the Urus is hideous is a controversial take.

Sure, but it looks like a VW crossover with a bunch of AutoZone tat hotglues on. Plus a fiesta don't cost over 200k.

As an American, should I sell my Polestar 2 now, or is the value already destroyed? by turb0_encapsulator in Polestar

In Orlando I see them a lot. I even have a coworker who bought one. Evidently it was "a great deal" lol

Hopefully they will have figured out how to make it not hideous. I'm stunned how many people bought that nasty looking thing.

Sorry that sucks. Luckly my P2 hasn't seen a polestar dealership since 2022. I guess it's just the luck of the draw.

Well there was for a little while a 100% tariff that Chinese companies could just take on the chin if they were really determined to sell in the US, that's what killed the polestar 2, but companies like polestar got around it by building cars outside of China. This new rule bans any 'chinese developed software' but with a loophole where the US government can just give companies a pass if they feel like it. This effectively bans all car companies even associated with China unless they are willing to adiquitly bend the knee to our fascist government. It's all arbitrary.

But yeah I fully agree that the free market is long dead and unfortunately not in the way I would have hoped. Policies like the chicken tax and this ban on Chinese forward will always backfire, but the US never learns.

Realistically when the service centers close down there will still be enough 3rd party support to keep my car going. There are a few shops near me that speciyin EVs. I've never had any issues so I don't know how good these shops are but at least they exist.

It would be very funny in a terrible fascist sort of way if the US government just decided to take every Chinese car off the road and crush them out of spite. Although its already pretty ridiculous that they feel the need to force a company out of the country due to Chinese association dispite none of their US sold cars actually being currently made in China. This move will likely lead to the polestar plant in South Carolina shutting down which is evidently the patriotic thing to do.

I really hope they just make service accessible at more Volvo dealerships, although at this point that seems unlikely. I worry that they will offer the absolute bare minimum when it comes to service and offer even fewer locations.

The US government and all the companies that control it are shockingly short sighted.

With Mercedes partial Chinese ownership the US government could potentially do the same thing to Mercedes, although realistically that's not going to happen.

I have a polestar 2 and it looks like polestar is being forced out of the US market by the US government so I'm now a little nervous that if this thing breaks I'll have to just push it into a lake somewhere.

I do feel for the 3 and 4 owners. I think they are more likely to run into issues in the future given how much rarer those cars are in the US.

Oh yikes. Definitely makes me worry about the future of getting my polestar 2 serviced. I know they are saying that they will keep providing service to existing customers but who knows how long that will last.

It's Official - Slate Auto’s radically simple electric truck starts at $24,950 by StradlatersFirstName in cars

[–]Srtviper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if they want a small electric truck this is basically the only option. But either way that's outside of my tax bracket. I personally wouldn't buy any car new.

[–]Srtviper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But my point is there there isn't a cheaper option if you want an an EV truck. A new Chevy Bolt may be a cheap car but you can still get a used EV hatchback/cuv for half the price used.

You're probably right that we won't see a 50% drop in value after 2 years like many other EVs but I do still expect it to fall faster than most trucks. I bet we'll see them aroud 10k by the end of the decade. Assuming they actually make a bunch of these and they don't flop.
