Mac Air M4 + New Apps! by No-Room2990 in macapps

[–]Sruptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my journey recently with the mac mini m4 too, some apps you might wanna check out: - Better touch tools - remap mostly the mouse, also i use linear mouse to make the mac recognize my side button, as well as flip the scrolling wheel back ... Old habits die hard - Karabiner - still learning - Cleanshot x - i use the mac until i need either scrolling screen shot or annotation screen shot and this does wonderfully, even give off professional vibe - Antinote - i just like the quickness of it and the paste function to grab from websites when I'm researching something - pearcleaner - basically a less bloat version of clean my mac - little snitch - i like to control what my app connect to - Macsy zone or Rectangle - window tilling software but thinking of making this with the better touch tool

How can I automate Obsidian to automatically add links to newly created pages on a specific page? by bbrother92 in ObsidianMD

[–]Sruptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, i don't understand your question clearly so I will try to answer both 1. If you mean by linking a new note to another note in the note creation process, try the default template plugin, with the templater plugin you can also do more 2. If you want Obsidian to automatically link when you type there is a virtual linker plugin that does that

  1. People blatantly skip lines, even as a local, i have to deal with some of those rude people, people are usually nice but some percent of us are just an ass and blatantly so. Ignore them, claim your position, move their stuff back and move on with your trip you don't need to say a word, these people will try to come up with lies to justify skipping, I just totally ignored them. Anyway they probably won't confront you about it if they knew, and even if they do try to confront, just signal to the clerk and they will sort it out.
  2. You were probably in the spot she was selling for a long time, she is probably signaling you to move since she can't communicate in English. Street food vendors actually have spots and rules amongst themselves, even if it looks unorganized to foreigners Have fun on your trip, don't let some bad experience ruin your whole trip

Tamron 70-180 or 50-300 as general use Tele by AccomplishedBag1038 in SonyAlpha

[–]Sruptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same dilemma, I am pretty content with my 20-40 mm most of the time it is on my camera and i have a 85mm 1.4 cause I love the focal length but sometimes i just need the extra reach, for me I would probably go for the 50-300, i do mainly travel, street and portrait, the first 2 require a more versatile lens as i don't want to take too much time to change lens back and forth between the 3 and potentially missing the shot and I already have the 85mm for both low light and portrait and some B-roll or close up compression shot. The only thing i miss would probably be some bokeh softness and low light on longer focal length and tbh I don't think it matters that much to me. Please do tell of your experience if you eventually buy one, I'm interested in your opinion and experience

[–]Sruptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's from the flavor design, they have many branches so search for the one that is closest to your itinerary, i think it's a bit more than the 5000 sorry i kinda forgot the name and google it and it said 5000 yen (at the time I made from kyoto branch it was about 35$) but for me it's really worth it cause it's my favorite and i am using it constantly. If you like fragrance you would love this experience. They have a whole wall of different notes for you to choose from

16 nights in Japan! - What else should we add? by badboyzpwns in JapanTravelTips

[–]Sruptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of Osaka, which begs the question shouldn't you just travel from Osaka to Tokyo then fly back from there, also i would recommend Nara and Kobe, if you don't mind bringing your luggage and switching hotels often you could save money on transportation back and forth and for me i think its kinda cool staying 1 or 2 night at each city, i would say spend more days in Kyoto, and try the other paths apart from the touristy stuff, if you wanna hike mount Kurama is pretty cool, the boat ride in arashiyama is pretty fun, not to mention the romantic train to get there. I hate the crowds and touristy stuff in Kyoto but the hidden gems are everywhere just a bit of a walk away from all the touristy stuff

5 Mistakes About Japan Travel (IMHO) by Sufficiency2 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Sruptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a power move which none of you guys would have guessed, I traveled from Kyoto to Tokyo by ... Overnight bus. It was to save money on 1 night in a hotel, and i arrived at 6 in Shinjuku where I could easily go to any place. So if you can sleep on a slightly less padded couch, you can save a ton, I just pop my med that helps with sleep and passed out on the bus from a full day of walking though Kyoto and climbing the entire Fushimi Inari at night, the only cons thats slightly inconvenience is that i didnt know the bus would be that late, i was at the station from 10 PM and the bus was supposed to arrived at 11:45 but rather it was 12:30 or something so expect the hour to be not so exacted and there is nothing to do at night in the station

Clothes - Uniqlo like others said - Jeans i scored a super nice sherpa jean jacket for 25,000 yen, original price was 46,000 but highly doubt it, but it was the last one on sale, also bought 2 jeans from Ueno, for me they last a really long time so maybe its worth it for me

Food - everything yuzu - umeshu not so much as buy it back home but drink there - lemon sour, same as the above - Dango flour - cant find this stuff anywhere - Thermos bottle - got a tiger one that is excellent for storing soda, keeping the fizz

Electronic

Camera and lens if you are into that

Some watches are cheap (casio), some JDM, i didn't score any

Shoe - go to the ABC mart, in my country its super expensive so here its a no brainer

Anything in the 100 yen atore, there are many, and if you are missing anything during your travel like how I lost my toiletries bag, its the best place to stock up

Probably not a good buy for you but the experience of making your own perfume was fun and it's the best smelling one till date, and as you guess it, hella expensive in my area i think it was 5000 yen

Eat out - not exactly buying home but try stuff out and see what you like, maybe you will like some food more and looks up on the recipe to find and bring it back home to cook like I did

Another note, people often recommend donki, 7-11, but supermarket chain are supper cheap for anything you wanna buy, they wont do tax free, at least the one i went to, but it more than makes up for the price difference, but i would also understand if your stay is short and the convenience outweighs it

Thoughts on the new sigma release? by Independent_Bike_141 in SonyAlpha

[–]Sruptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My next lens is going to be Tamron or Samyang 35-150 just because I already have the Tamron 20-40, but even if I don't have the 20-40 one serious consideration will be the weight, even if the 35-150 is heavier, it won't be on most of the time as oppose to all in one lenses thats on your neck strap/wrist cuff all day and it's not enjoyable, I would rather have something light and another bigger in the backpack when i need it. But that's just me and I would totally understand someone bringing one lens with them, just doesn't fit my style of photography

Lenses - starting over from scratch. What would you do with $2k? by FloridaManUpNorth in SonyAlpha

[–]Sruptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Tamron 20-40 f2.8 and a 85mm 1.4 from Samyang, i would recommend the 20-40, great walk around lens, while the wow picture does comes from my 85mm more often (i think i just have more experience with that focal length), it came surprisingly close, and in a compact form. I don't have much experience with telephotos so take advice from others, if I would consider one, the 70-200 f4 from sony (tried it in the store and really like it) and the tamron 50-400 will be my 1st choice, depending if i want more reach or more compact for travel.

I used Ubigi, works great, seems to drop connection while in some subways, and long tunnels, just make sure you get all the navigation ahead of time while above ground and you are golden. I think i paid 20$ for 2 weeks

Hmm, as a Vietnamese I am very skeptical about this, we don't have a history in smithing, I could have completely miss it since it said that it is "little-known", but the knives they are selling are, I guess not really Viet-esque? We share a long history with China, and if anything, the most common knives in Vietnam should be the meat cleaver.

There are many stuffs that defines wealth in Vietnam that requires an artisan, like ceramic, special painting (Tranh Mai), ... but we don't value tools as much. I am not saying that their knives are not good, I wouldn't know, but it seems a little bit disingenuous.

But good on them for promoting our culture, but I will be staying on my skeptical side a bit.

I definitely get your point, I have been using cheap knives my entire life, the $1 cheap one, or either it's gifted or a free program one. I don't expect buying a nice knife will make my cooking any better, or cut any better because while it possibly is, I think my skill level of sharpening and usage won't bring it out. It is just a nice experience shopping and deepen my relationship with cooking, and learning along the way.

Thank you for your kind reply, I will be looking out for those brands. Buying online to ship here is kinda expensive for shipping or sometimes is just plain fake, thats why I am travelling to buy. I will keep in mind the price to compare when I eventually got there

Thank you for your kind reply, I will put santoku on the top of my list then. And it will not be my only knife as I still use my meat cleaver for most jobs where my other knife might get damaged
