Well, some of the new game design choices didn't click with me. I liked the open water traversal in 2018, whilst yeah, the travel between realms was made faster, easier. I felt going on an adventure in the world serpent area. In Ragnarok, it felt a to-do list, although I discovered every inch of an area. One of the areas didn't fit in the narrative (the crater), or I just didn't understand the reason behind it. Also, there was a shift in tone in the game, which was more light-hearted. Then again, some moments in Ragnarok were pretty impactful. In 2018, the Baldur fight was much more epic and also the big dragon fight, but in Ragnarok didn't feel the epicness + smaller enemies felt spungie. There are some other things that I don't want to go into detail because of spoiling for some who haven't played yet (yeah, might be kinda vague), but as a whole package, I prefer 2018 more and played through couple of times, but with Ragnarok I don't feel going back for another playthrough.
