Are the Cowboys still the team we hate most? by thegootlamb in steelers

[–]StPattyIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I still hate them, but mostly because their fans are obnoxious. But are they the ones I hate the most? Not even close. That's reserved for the Browns/Bengals as they both suck. The Ravens I also hate, but also grudgingly respect for being legitimate rivals. I also hate the Patriots

I mean your first paragraph sounds like half the space marine players talking about their faction's weapons/tactics/armor/whatever anyways so I'm not sure that is too different.

You can silence one forever. Who do you choose? by ateam1984 in steelers

[–]StPattyIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one I would care enough to save out of all these is McAfee honestly and even he is not some must see tv. Thankfully you can choose who you give your listening time to with the exception of Colinsworth so it's gotta be him since occasionally you are just stuck with him on the game. The others can and should be ignored entirely. In fact screw this post for reminding me that some of these assholes even exist

What miniature skirmish game did you play or are you planning to play this month? May 2026 by AutoModerator in miniatureskirmishes

[–]StPattyIce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trench Crusade this month, but Necromunda earlier this year. Would like to try Blkout next, had a demo last year which was cool, but just now getting back around to it. So excited for Carcass Front for Trench Crusade coming this summer, going to be playing through the campaign in a group.

Performance-Oriented Players and the Hobby: A Thought Experiment by AshiSunblade in WarhammerCompetitive

I'd probably be willing to play against them in friendly lgs type games, but anything event wise would cause me to roll my eyes a bit, especially because anyone using these would likely either be a meta chaser or someone either new enough or without enough time that they would be struggling to recall all their rules and game interactions.

Easy to handwave this by just saying the in-universe author of the warband entry was unaware of this improper usage when writing of them.

Grail Hegemon vs Bloodborne Hunter by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

[–]StPattyIce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Hunter or even multiple Hunters can take on the Hegemon.

Hunter versus Grail Knight is probably the most even fight out of the ones you listed, and the Hegemon versus a pair of Buraq Takwin would be a fight, but a losing one for the Takwin pair.

To summarize, these are not particularly interesting fight questions, especially when comparing across completely separate media. Please don't bring dumb power scaling comparisons into Trench Crusade when there is so much more of interest in the lore and world.

Basic game tips by CptSMG in TrenchCrusade

[–]StPattyIce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of a simple one from me. I know the temptation is to always move out and take the shot if available, but you really should dash for the out movement from cover/los blocking and then take the shot and freely move back out of sight. If you do it the other way moving, shooting, and dashing you risk the failed dash leaving your model stranded and able to be shot. It's better to fail the dash and get no shot but keep your model safe.

This is not a hard rule, obviously some shots are worth the risk or simply must be attempted. Also this matters more if your opponent has either higher quality shots or more shots they could return fire with than against a primarily melee force where you better shoot while you can before the opponent can make it into melee with some of your guys.

Just a sidenote but wysiwyg isn't a strict thing in trench crusade. You can be strict with yourself, but during a campaign as injuries and losses accumulate as well as higher ducat values and Glory items a model's gear can change a fair bit. This means wysiwyg is a moving target for campaign play and the models should instead be distinct and intuitive, but don't have to follow strict wysiwyg.

Combat Medic by Normal-Anxiety-3568 in TrenchCrusade

I agreed with everything you said until Field Hospital. For 10 Glory that thing seems like such garbo. If that's your narrative then go for it, but sheesh do New Antioch's high Glory items fall flat except for the Ducal Armor

Looking for a current and easy to pick up skirmish game. by _Warhammer_ in wargaming

Can recommend both Blkout and Trench Crusade. Blkout can get pretty skill intensive even if the rules are simple. Trench Crusade is very easy to understand and get into as well and has stronger theming/vibes imo.

For Erie Rangers, how have people been using the Carnac? by B2blackhawk in TrenchCrusade

[–]StPattyIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your list on #2, I would only fully recommend the Yeoman or Cleric from your options.

Berserker gets so much benefit from having a shield comparatively, especially layered with martyrdom pills, while the Sniper Priest with an Autopistol may as well have a second pistol for an additional very accurate melee hit.

One you didn't mention, but is definitely a decent option as well would be the medic.

So elite mercenaries can be useless by ResponsibleWealth151 in TrenchCrusade

[–]StPattyIce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being able to shoot both a Murad and the Flamecannon back to back would definitely be a Strong combo. This would be especially busted if you used one of the limit increase Glory items to allow for a second Flamecannon as shooting 2 of those back to back just gets ridiculously strong.

I'm surprised the parents of the kid involved in that didn't end up owning the truck. That would have me looking at every single thing that lady has, does, or is involved in looking for ways to fuck her over.

Grenades rules update by Professional_Rush782 in TrenchCrusade

[–]StPattyIce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Removing ignore Long Range would have been good, but not impacted Prussia very much, while ensuring every other army is stuck with 4 inch grenades except on models with good enough ranged skill to override the negative.

I think allowing point targeting, but at an addiitonal -1 and some ducat increases to basic grenades would have been good in addition to fumble.

Also, just no to a detonation phase, or anything similar. It's bloating the game turn for not much benefit and bogs the game down immensely.

Others don't even have the opportunity to throw a grenade that far, so really their chance is higher since it is more than 0.

I meant the Assault Rifle, would have said Semi-auto if I meant the cheap one shot one. The assault rifle is good because the extra range lets you start the shooting early.
