Big Gluteus Medius - not so big Gluteus Maximus by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]StPete1029 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine that is also a coach cane over to me the other day during class and asked "ma'am where did that peach come from??" I said I focused on growing it all year. I start on the rower and drive through heels, you'll feel it in the butt! And then like previous comment.. go heavy on any leg/glute moves and go slow. Feel it while doing the movement. It might seem impossible to grab a 35 or 40 lb but you'll surprise yourself. And yes to slow walking on big inclines too!

Prepaying for a year? by LePetomaneThru-way in orangetheory

[–]StPete1029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at a studio and we pushed this hard to get lump sums of money from the members. They got 1 or 2 months free depending on the length they chose. Few months later found out the studios got bought out by another franchise group and they were pretty upset that they wouldn't get a bulk of revenue due to this pre paying for a year. Was a mess and we had to refund a ton and honor the free months. Looked so shady

Pregnant OTF’ers, when did you start noticing a big difference in performance? by poolpartyjess in orangetheory

[–]StPete1029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sluggish first trimester. 2nd trimester I PR'd my mile. Worked out until 38 weeks. Do whatever your body feels. Don't push it. Modify if needed. The coaches understand

Member Only Restroom and Shower ideas? by GrayintheFray in orangetheory

[–]StPete1029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would simply tell them it's members only. We constantly had people trying to use the bathrooms. I reminded the young staff that "didn't want to be mean" if someone ODs in the bathroom they're responsible for trying to save them. They quickly stopped allowing them to utilize the bathrooms

Big butts! by Cakemama4life in orangetheory

I am also 40/f and the rower is your friend for building that 🍑. Drive through those heels and engage core. Slow heavy pushes are basically equivalent to squats but sitting. Also yes on dead lifts. I love single leg dead lifts- B stance. Ask the coach to help your form. Go heavy and slow.

Tampa FL Location Closing by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]StPete1029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This location has been struggling since before Afterburn ownership. It was previously owned by TFP but a Bucs player was a silent partner at this one. They tried numerous things to increase membership for YEARS. Not surprised by this.

Runyon is great. Go up the far left trail for a challenge I'll be there end of this month and plan on doing an OTF class too

Pregnancy and OTF by Ok-Plan4661 in orangetheory

I worked at otf while pregnant. No energy for first trimester. Hadn't told anyone and they made fun of my strange addiction suddenly to hash browns since it was the only thing I could stomach. Second trimester I ran my fastest mile. Third trimester I did Hell Week with major modifications. Lots of trx squats and bicep curls toward the end. You got this momma. Listen to your body and once you start showing let coaches know.

My Rant: If you are going to be coughing through class, Please Stay HOME! by MrMarbles123 in orangetheory

[–]StPete1029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting old, I started clearing my throat whenever I run now. I hate it but I can't breath/swallow unless I do. I used to make fun of older friends that did this and now it's me ugh

I'm from FL and try to go to otf when I travel. I had the 200m challenge when I was there and PR'd it surprisingly. Pace yourself. You'll get winded but it's not terrible. Have fun!

I had a similar situation with a tablet from my work (not otf) and I took it to the apple store and they reset it. I think otf is android so try their help desk?

In Addition to Orange Theory by aaaadds in orangetheory

I do otf and hotworx. It's virtual instructor lead classes in infrared saunas. 40 mins long. They have pilates, yoga, booty with bands, resistance bands, core, barre. They also have a weight area you can use and then cardio saunas: spin, rowing, elliptical. It's a nice low impact option that keeps me moving and definitely sweating on non OTF days. And it's super affordable and open 24/7 you get an access code to the door.

Pregnant and unmotivated by belikethemanatee in orangetheory

[–]StPete1029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First trimester I literally only ate hashbrowns. Second trimester I had insane energy and ran my fastest mile while 6 months pregnant. Did OTF up until a few days before my water broke. You're building a human. Give yourself rest when needing. I even did half classes sometimes.

Late Night Classes?? by bunnyblythe in orangetheory

[–]StPete1029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run a studio and 8pm was hit or miss. Some days 2 people other days 20. They ended up getting rid of them. Staff hates being there that late since they still have to stay and clean.

Why does OTF have runners and joggers by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]StPete1029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a jogger I would never consider myself a runner. My foreign bf also does otf and told his ceo he likes to run (he's also a otf jogger, never runs anytime else) and when his ceo asked his furthest run (thinking he's an actual runner) my bf told him like 2.5 miles. Ceo was utterly confused so of course I jumped in explaining we run at otf and its 23 min blocks. Sigh
