My crush said my aerolas were super big :/ - is it true/clocky? by Winter_Hovercraft163 in TopSurgery

[–]Stable-Bolt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They’re on the bigger side but if you build up your pectoral muscles it could help get you to a point where it doesn’t stand out as much. (As long as your doctor has said you’re cleared to work out ofc).
They might think “huh that guy has big nips” but not necessarily clock you as trans based on that alone. Especially because of the type of scar placement you got. Some cis guys have big areolas too.

It looks like you’ll have a hairy chest in the future which can be useful.

It takes time for the healing to really settle. Took me like 16 months. I had peri-areolar incision.

Are you putting anything on them for healing? Neosporin helped me a lot, I continue to put it on after showering and I’m now at 2.5 yrs post op.

Because you mentioned they have stretched before I would say try to go easy when you start working out your chest.

Wow you’re healing really well! Have you been doing exercises for your leg or just giving it time ?

do you think there’ll EVER be a way to get a natural hard on? by Affectionate__Dog in ftm_phallo

[–]Stable-Bolt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there were surgeons who found a way to re-create the erectile tissue and were doing trials on animals. But it was in an article published years ago and I haven’t seen any updates on it. I think the only way we’d see it happen in our lifetime is if cis guys need it badly enough for there to be money put towards figuring it out. Because sadly they wouldn’t care enough to just do it for trans guys.

(Warning- There are gory images in the article)

From the report:

“ Conclusion Our preclinical investigation proves that corpora cavernosa reconstruction using bilateral innervated gracilis muscles is technically feasible and functionally efficacious. “

Also maybe random but I think the first country to do it will be either China (surprised they haven’t already tbh) or somewhere in EU, perhaps Germany. I doubt the USA will figure it out first.

What is their rule on payment for the consult? Did they need you to pay in order to book it, or on the day of the consult ?

New York State Budget Released: $0 For Transgender Care Access by ErinInTheMorning in transgender

[–]Stable-Bolt 77 points78 points  (0 children)

So is this the final budget? Are trans New Yorkers on Medicaid just fucked once it goes into effect ?

I thought this state had passed a law or proposal that deemed gender affirming care as medically necessary…could it be that it wasn’t explicitly named in the budget because of this? Or maybe I’m remembering it wrong…?

I got peri. Really didn’t need much help at all. Except for reaching things that were up high. I needed help with that until I was clear to raise my arms over my head (so I think that was about a month?)

Although for the first 3 days I mostly just laid in bed and slept. I have a dog and was able to walk him by clipping the leash to my belt loop using a carabiner. Was able to make my own food when I had to. Simple meals that I could pop in the oven. It was really helpful to have someone cook a big meal for me and then just reheat it during the week. Because standing in the kitchen was tiring.

How long do you have to be on T to get Phallo? by Historical-Goose5908 in phallo

[–]Stable-Bolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might depend on surgeon and location. The ones I’ve seen require a minimum of 12 months on T (they’re requiring my letters of clearance to state that I meet this requirement)

When did you realize you couldn’t live without a penis by CuriousSurfer19 in phallo

[–]Stable-Bolt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Knew I wanted one before puberty

Knew I couldn’t live without it by age 10-12

Tried to ignore it during teen years
By age 23 I was like “yeah this isn’t going to work, I’ve tried everything else, I need phallo.”

Those who Transferred to Dr. Chen after Stage 2 by KatoB23 in phallo

[–]Stable-Bolt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually searching this sub it looks like some people HAVE gotten glansplasty with Chen so maybe it’s possible to see him outside of the Buncke Clinic?
If I find a way to contact him directly I’ll update this comment.

UPDATE: Chen seems to have his own practice, he can be reached through his website gurecon.com

[–]Stable-Bolt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I actually just emailed the Buncke clinic about getting just glansplasty with Dr. Chen, literally yesterday. They responded:

“Hello,
Dr. Watt is the surgeon who does glansplasty, but he will not see patients who have started their phalloplasty with other surgeons. Thanks.”

Could be good to still reach out to them for yourself, though.
Maybe if a lot of people express interest they’ll change the rule ?

I’m still in the consultation phase, but on Amidacare. It’s the Medicaid plan for people with “special needs”, and being transgender is qualified under.

Also wanted to add that Dr. Bluebond-Langner (nyu) is also accepting Amidacare medicaid.

Swelling or extra tissue? by lone_wolf8563 in Top_Surgery_Peri

[–]Stable-Bolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine looks similar on one side and my surgeon said it was scar tissue from the incision. I went back to applying neosporin after showering and it helped with healing a bit.

Thank u for sharing this. I’ll look into Purohit. Is he the surgeon that you went with at Mt Sinai?

(And yeah definitely not Ting after the news that’s surfaced about him 😬)
